SW20TT
Hi guys,

I badly need some advice on freshening up the suspension bushings in my SW20.

On bumpy roads there is a loose and wriggly feeling in the suspension that is starting to bug me!

I will be buying coilovers in due course but until then, I want to know which suspension bushings are vital to replace.

Can anyone give me advice on:
1) which bushings would be essential to replace;
2) what brand and where to buy the bushings;

If you know a shop that knows MR2s and can supply & fit the parts for me in Sydney that would be great too!

Any advice is appreciated. Cheers in advance!

Hey SW20TT,

I bought the complete Prothane polybush kit from the USA, I think it was around $150-180 delivered.

I installed them myself by burning out the old bushes, the difference in ride quality and feel was fantastic.

Sure is!

However you need to measure your swaybar diameter and either get them to put different size bushes in the kit or order new ones

yup you're right Eric. I'll measure the sway bar diameter before I buy the bushing kit.

Phiz, do you know how much the kit is with the group buy?

I have the Prothane Sway bar bushings - still brand new which I'm happy to sell you.

I bought the whole kit not realising that my sway bars were larger than standard.

Located in WA and happy to post, just flick me a PM.

Thanks for the offer PETE but I am after the full kit.

Quick question for all you guys who've replaced the sway bar bushings, my sway bars measured up 18mm in diameter front&back but the kits I've seen on ebay and amazon say 19mm sway bar bushings. Should I be getting exact 18mm sway bar bushings or is it supposed to be 1mm larger?

Your feed back is much appreciated :)

I believe the diameter of the pre '92 bars are 18 mm F/R, while the post '92 ones are 19 mm F/R.
You need the right ones, and 19 mm will be too large in your case.
