Howdy,
Heres a request to anyone running an AW11, rear Mrs factory 6.5" rims and 205 tyres. What's your tyre side wall to wheel arch lip clearance? 0.5° of camber will alter the gap by around 4mm so please mention your camber no's if you know them.

My rear wheel arches are now repaired after the previous owner had cut them to fit racing tyres. I have an outside template that is a good fit but just want another dimension for peace of mind.

What's a practical minimum clearance that won't result in guard contact on bumps and cornering?

Steve, I have this exact setup on one of my aw11's, I have huge clearance but am currently running factory 88 model springs.
I'll measure up & let u know. I'm about to replace them out with lowered springs too so I'll be able to give u those measurements also.

I have this wheel and tyre combo too. My tyres actually protrude a little past the inside edge of the arch lip. I'm running stock suspension, so it's not a problem in practice. Note that different tyes have different widths, even though they are notionally the same size. 205/50s are are a little too tall too, as my speedo now under reads a bit; 195/50s would be ideal.

Thanks for all replies.

Turns out I had not trimmed the inner lip around the top of the arch on the passengers side. It was around 3 mm oversized against my template. So I took the opportunity before painting to trim it back to 60% of original and roll it 45 degrees as well. Probably over kill but it now protrudes around the same as the inner guard turn down fold meaning it's at maximum tire clearance. Not that I plan on fitting snow chains or going any wider than 205's.

Today was a bit of a milestone as the rear guards are in their first colour coat. The car is now pretty much rescued from the previous owners upgrades.
