We also need to start a new thread for the MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge 2018 or more accurately the MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge 2017 Mark II.
We have taken on board your comments about the heat and just to make sure I got the message, I spent a little over an hour in the ambulance room on Wednesday morning suffering from dehydration and with a resting pulse rate of 145 (normally 55-60 for me). Sorry for being so inconsiderate and not being around to say goodbye to a number of you.
Wakefield Park's calendar is quite crowded in the early part of next year and after discussions with a number of this year's entrants, very few wanted to wait almost two years till the end of 2018 for the next Challenge.
With that in mind, we examined temperature and rainfall charts for Goulburn over the last 30 years. Goulburn has a fairly low rainfall and it is distributed reasonably evenly throughout the year. Average maximum daily temperature in November is 23 C and we have secured November 27 and 28 for the next round of the Challenge.
The same hardworking group that brought you the January Challenge will be putting together the November event, and rest assured that we will be using our "ïmagination" to come up with a couple of innovative and exciting changes to the program.
Geoff Fear and Paul Brell have already indicated they will be back (with Paul especially appreciative of the potential for much cooler weather). Paul has also indicated that he may be able to entice another experienced MR2 mechanic or two which would free up Geoff Fear for more driver training. Win Win all around.
The website for the MR2 Wakefield Challenge 2017 Mark II will soon be up and running and we look forward to seeing you all again at Wakefield Park in November.
