I believe my TRD springs were actually the same as the OP listed which would be the softer type.
I think the hard ones were only available on special order anyway.

Lower springs have to be made harder to stop the suspension crashing into the bumpstops on large bumps.
The stock bump travel on the front of a 92+ SW20 is only about two inches. My TRD's rode one inch lower, so there was only one inch left.
Of course ride is a very subjective thing, and what one person may tolerate another won't.
Also don't forget that wheel weight, diameter, tyre profile/pressure, ARB stiffness etc are all variables that affect ride quite apart from what springs you have.
