Hi all

Well I thought I might start a thread of my new MR2 I have had it for a bit over a month now and just slowly doing a few things that needed doing maintenance wise and plan to gradually start doing a few upgrades. I had been looking for a JDM turbo hardtop for a while and this one came up for sale up in Cairns and after talking with the shop that had been servicing the car and coming to a deal with its previous owner I flew up to Cairns to purchase the car. When I got there and saw the car I was very impressed with the condition of the car as the photos I had seen didn't do it justice after looking over the car and a quick drive I handed over the money and was the proud owner of my first MR2.

now for a few pics

Is that the 1997 one? One of The later jdm's in the country, looks awesome.

No it's a 94, which I was after as well because I wanted the update model but wanted one before they had all the air bags.

Nice buy! Saw it on carsales for a while & it's prolly one of the lowest mileage best original condition gen3 turbos in the country. Congrats.

Thanks MR2QIK

Yeah I had not seen any others that ticked all the boxes I wanted like this one did and the previous owner was the first owner since it was imported and he had every receipt for every service since he bought it.

I'm really enjoying the car :)

So since owning the car I have been doing some maintenance and just tidying up a few things, I had to replace the rear left wheel bearing as that started making some noise and I am also now ordering a full set of silicon coolant hoses to replace all of the coolant hoses. I had one heater hose fail on me when I was driving the car back from Qld so that was enough prompting for me to want to replace all of the hoses.

I gave the car a service last weekend and have just processes the engine oil sample and i am very happy with the results from the oil test. the previous owner had been running Mobil 1 10W-30 and from the results it has been protecting the engine very well.

Very very nice. I really like the hardtops. Just that bit cleaner in style and lighter too. Congrats on the purchase.  You mention a heater hose failure during the trip from Qld. Im keen to know which one.? And where?  Thanks. Hope you continue to enjoy your car. Cheers.

Hi Falcon

Yeah I agree with you on the cleaner style of the hardtop and less weight is always good :)

The heater hose that failed on the trip home was a 90deg bend below the water distribution housing off the back of the engine. I have attaches an image to try and enplane it better.

Any other plans for it? Maybe 17's, suspension & bolt on engine mods

Btw, if you're ever in Sydney for the monthly meet, it'd be really nice to see this in person.
