Hey all,
So have a small problem here.  I recently put in a top mount intercooler which got rid of all the old pipes going to the side mount intercooler...scroll down the page to see http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=47253&mpage=6

By doing this, I no longer have the nipple on the hotpipe to plug the vacuum hose that leads to the AC idle up sensor.  Where should I re-route it?

I initially was going to get a nipple welded onto BOV adapter pipe once I had everything sorted, but surely there is another place that it can be plugged into?   I also noticed the Gen 2 hotpipe does not have this nipple, and since the AC idle up is the same on both Gen 2 and Gen 3, where does the vacuum hose plug into?

Any help would be appreciated :)

It's just the idle up for when the air con is on so anywhere after the throttle body butterfly is fine. You probably have the small vacume line that runs to the top of the BOV right? You could try a T piece in there and see if it all works fine. It should work from there fine.

*EDIT* actually before doing that check if the vacume line to the BOV is after the throttle body butterfly. Thinking about it, that vacume is probably before the butterfly so don't put it there.

Track_mr2 - The original ac idle up vacuum hose ran to the hotpipe which is before the throttle butterfly. So you're saying I can put it after the throttle butterfly? (just double checking we are on the same Page lol)

Anyone out there with a Gen 2? I'm really interested in seeing where the vacuum hoses. I know one goes to the bottom of the intake manifold, where does the other one go?

We did a gen 3 turbo into a 1990 JDM turbo swap and pretty sure there are no vacum hoses in the hot pipe.

Artymr2 - I'll post up a picture tomorrow, it's directly underneath the BOV flange.
I have also a spare gen 2 hotpipe and it doesn't have it - your hotpipe may have been swapped out.

Also have a gen2 hot pipe and don't recall any other connections apart from the BOV. Pic should resolve it.

Did you swap the charcoal canister ? That had other bits on it from memory on the gen 3.

Cheers

It can be tapped into anywhere from the air filter to turbo pipe, turbo to IC or IC to throttle body. It needs to before the butterfly. The Vacume line to the blow off valve is no good.

You could not hook it up and it will still work but then you are letting un filtered air in

Thanks Dasic1, that's the one.
I did have it unhooked but under boost it lets out air and hence doesn't hit full boost.

That is weird. Ours definitely does not have that nipple and I have seen many other gen3s that don't either. Maybe it's a certain year or feature equipped engine only ( eg traction control ?)

Cheers
