Been thinking about selling mine a few times, and even more so now I have a gorgeous optioned up BRZ to drive around.

Two things that have stopped me thus far is I feel the car owes me more fun than what I've currently had in it, especially with the amount of hours I've poured into it fixing it up. I'm so close yet so far since there's a few more grand needing to be invested getting the transmission rebuilt, and eventually the original engine too. For now the replacement engine it has is fine though.

The other one is my daughter loves it and even before I bought the BRZ she would tell me she likes my little blue car, which is about as far as her vocabulary goes in saying she wants me to take her for a drive in it.

Aim is once shes 4 years old and can wear a lap sash belt with a booster seat, I'll fulfill that wish. Still have over a year to get there luckily.

At that point it'll be very close to historic rego time, so it'll only be a case of making sure I have space for it.

MAJ - it's always the way isn't it though? "Just a few more grand and it will be perfect", (after a few more grand), "just a few more grand and it will be perfect".  I'm finding that as well.  There is so much i want to do with my car and there is only so much that can be done.  I have another 2 years to wait until i can (hopefully) take my daughter for a drive in the car (she'll then be 4).
I don't think i'll ever sell my car........scream and swear at yes

There's always little things you can do & perfect, but I firmly believe in setting your end goal before embarking on the journey. Otherwise you often end up with a mix match of modifications, rather than a dedicated theme.

And not changing your end goal midway, although this happens before you realise most times (well for me anyway).

^Amen to that! Story of my MR2 life, but it's inevitable as financial situations change (improve or worsen depending on timing).

Yeah it can be the case. In my instance though the car isn't driveable so not spending the money isn't an option. You can stress as much that the car isn't perfect, but I think as long as the amount you've spent gives you the amount of fun you were hoping for, then you're moving forwards and not backwards.

Going back to the original post, this caught my eye, because I'm facing a similar quandary. :/ The A-Dub overheated for the first time today, so I'm gonna see if it holds coolant tomorrow and drives around stably. I've rescued it from the dead once before to great expense, but if it's gonna overheat, I think I might get rid. :(

Shame, I was holding out until they got rare and collectable, plus there was a guy chasing AW11s last week whose ad has gone now. And I just paid the rego, hehe. I love my A-Dub, but I'm not prepared to keep spending large money on it, so maybe it's something simple. Will see what's what tomorrow... :/

Late 94. Privately imported. I'm the first registered AU owner & 3rd outright owner. Although the 2nd owner bought it to bring to AU for his wife only to sell it straight away (she didn't drive manual).

I thought having a modded FD S8 would change my love for 2, but it only reinforced it.

Hey MR2QIK I'm curious in which ways having a modded FD S8 reinforced your love for your MR2? My partner loves the FD and I'm sure she may some day be tempted sell the STi for an FD but at the same time she is weary of their reputation of being a money pit for reliability where as the STi never misses a beat.

My mate's STi was a money pit... Funny, last night he said to me "I've had my fill of sports cars and endlessly fixing them up, the only one I'd consider these days is a GT86".
