Only sensor I have not replaced is the coolant temp
And the sensor that sits on the engine lid (oil temp)

Everything has been replaced with a brand new genuine item
Except using another used igniter

And a denso branded 02 sensor
Still plugged right in tho,

Not sure where to look now.

All i keep thinking is the cam timing is off.

It's pretty easy to check the cam timing marks, only need to remove a couple of bolts

You checked the ecu coolant temp sensor? Green plug one.

No haven't tested that yet
Do you know of a way to test it?
Where is it located in on the block?

The bgb will tell you how to test it. It would of been one of the first items id check or replace for your issue. A new one is cheap.

Really?
I was told it would throw a code if it's bad, which it has no codes stored.

Anyone got a link to the bgb?

It simply changes its resistance based on the coolant temperature. If its reading out of whack the ecu will think the coolant temp is different that it actually is. Adding more or less fuel then it should.
It would prob cause a fault code if unplugged or completely faulty (break in wiring)

Bgb is easy to find. Just google Mr2 bgb and the first few web pages will have it.

You were saying your cars running rich and your exhaust is all black etc... but not a single one of your spark plugs are black. It doesn't actually add up to running rich. If you were running rich based on a faulty sensor your spark plugs will definately be black. Did you check the oil, do you have raw fuel in your oil? If so then it can be your injector o rings if you have side feed injectors. Based on your plug color though, your car doesn't look to be running rich.

Now you mention it
When I take the oil cap off it does smell a bit like fuel in there,
Is there anyother signs to show a possible oring failure

They look fairly black besides the electrode section
Do my spark plugs show it's running ok?

Don't really want to pull it apart to replace injector rings
But the head is coming off next month for a full reco and some bigger cams and valve springs etc so may wait till then

I have had these issues before with my previous gen2 engines.
Try as 'Mrskylighter' has suggested, & test & change out the 'Water temp sensor'.
