Happily pass on that. Good project if it were a few grand cheaper.

A few points observed

1. car will need a full respray. front guards are new. front bumper, spoiler, headlights and bonnet are all 2nd hand. original paint on other panels is pretty faded and there is damage to driver's door. According to seller the car was involved in an accident in the 90s where it was driven through a chainlink fence.
2. aftermarket sunroof - glass was broken years ago and would need to be replaced
3. battery was (conveniently?) flat so seller could not crank over engine to demonstrate whether it turns over, or do a compression test
4. from looking at brake disc surfaces it looked like car has been moved recently
5. looked like sump might have been off recently

So as I said, if you are interested in buying this car, do yourself a favour and inspect it thoroughly so you know what you are getting.

oh, and by the way, as far as i can tell from my research on HKS 5A-GX engines, it is basically a 1.6L with a stroker kit that takes capacity out to 1711cc. Not 2000cc as advertised.

Thanks for posting the pics.

The seller isn't wrong on the carsales when he says, "Please note the first shot is how it was in its hey day will need some love and paint to get back to this"

I guess thats just what he'd 'like' for the car and says reasonable offers considered. But looking at what has been replaced body-wise a good chassis inspection is a must.

Unfortunately for the seller I reckon the price is close to what the car was worth (in todays AW land) what he is asking but as it is shown in its hey day.

Interior looks good. Full respray needed, engine - unknown quantity, I go by the thought of if it ain't ticking over, its dead.

No worries mate, i'll yank the one out the car I came here in, turn it over!

It'd take a lot a love, paint and $$ to bring this car back. Until that engine ticks over it's worth very little IMHO.

Excellent for parts - well, the driveline.. (I'd happily pay 1k for those cam covers alone..!).

Unfortunately the body isn't good for much any more. Rust, accident damage, aftermarket sunroof, and looks to have started life as a US-market car - so id be worried about (everything related to) the LHD-RHD conversion..

But for anyone with the time/money or interest in its history; itd be great to restore it to its heyday. It was definitely a pretty cool car at one point..

I remember this car featured in Hot 4's and Rotarys back in about 1990. Will see if I can dig it up from out of the collection in the roof.

Nice article.  Obviously the bodykit has been scavenged off the car.  Interesting to see that Etchells talks about the 2 litre stroker kit.  A real shame that something with historical significance (I'm not kidding) has come to this.

If the present "carer" could be beaten down to a realistic price it would make a great resto project . . .
