I seem to have gotten stuck with removing the axle from the trans, is there anything i'm missing here?
I've removed the 14mm bolt and the retaining clip, shouldn't the axles just slide out from the trans?
I tried to gently persuade it out with a crowbar / hammer and a block of wood but it won't budge. Perhaps if I have an LSD is there something within the diff that attaches to the axles and would prevent them sliding out?

If someone can tell me that it does just pull straight out that would be very helpful; then i can crank on it a little more angrily with the knowledge I'm not going to break anything!

Yep undo the 2 bolts from the block for the axel carrier and give it a good yank

Also, have you drained the transmission fluid?

ah ok thanks. it seems the only things holding it in the bearing bracket is the clip and bolt... Do you remember if it was quite difficult to get them out? the other side is being a pain as well, I think perhaps i just need to get angrier with it as the workshop manual suggests a hammer and brass bar so i guess it needs a bit more bashing to get it out, was just a bit worried about damaging anything, it really doesn't want to budge at all

Thanks Jason, yeah i've drained the trans fluid already, I guess I'll just keep bashing it then and see how i go!

They can be quite stiff if they haven't been removed recently, just to confirm, you have to unbolt the axel bearing from the block

Yep unbolt the carrier from the block just to be sure. Should pull out by hand after that.

yeah it's a tough one... even with a 450mm pry bar it won't move. I'll try unbolting the whole drive shaft bearing carrier and see if that makes a difference
cheers
