I'm in the process of designing and building my dream an "Ultimate Build" Mark III MR2 Spyder,
Currently I have decided on a Supercharged 2GR-FE V6 with a modified E153 Mark II MR2 Transmission!
Currently I have made multiple sketches of the car at different angles and I am making a 3D 1/15 Scale mold using a Styrofoam buck with professional molding clay over the top this will give me visual aids in producing a finished car.
I am looking at the Porsche 918 Spyder as my main inspiration as well as Lotus Evora, Ferrari 360 Modena, Lamborghini Adventador and the Mclaren P1.
I will post images of the sketches and mold soon.

Currently i'm adding a new 1zz that i picked up for $1000 out of a low km wreck,
Just so i have something for now while I save for the new running gear to drive on weekends.

The current car is the 2004 AUTOSALON Magazine car,
As far as I know Autosalon gave it away in a competition the winner sold the car to a guy in Queensland and then he sold it to a guy in NSW who bought it for his daughter unfortunate for me as when I got it I drove back to Victoria and the clutch was already shuddering guess she drove the smt like she was in a auto and rode the throttle at the lights.

So since I bought it I have replaced 2 alternators, serviced it every 5 thousand with the best products, Nulon synthetic oil, NGK Iridium plugs, Hi Flow Air filters ect, and despite this i now have a blown set of piston rings at only 80,000kms.

What engine is the best most powerful that will fit in this engine bay with a front wheel drive layout?

I'm also looking at the possibility of hydrogen and electric as this is the way of the future.

Ooh, you want FWD and maybe hydrogen or electric? Maybe ask turbodosebro, he also has a high paying job and big plans.

If you want electric you could speak to a place called Lubrication Management in Dandenong. I know they have converted a few cars

For something a little different perhaps an engine swap from a Toyota GTV. Then run it on some sort of biofuel.

EV conversion would be very cool, but who knows where to store the batteries in these things, as they have next to no storage!
Otherwise very well suited for the install considering the chassis bare weight etc. Maybe forgo the passenger seat?

If you keep for a conventional, non-unobtanium engine swap, as knightrous said you cannot go past the 2GR for the maximum punch. Considering they usually swap these into Lotus Elises etc. then they should be good enough for you ;)

Abflug make a Porsche 918 style kit for the MR-S, so you might find some inspiration there.

No idea why you car show guys love cream interiors so much, they make me want to throw up. Why not some Alcantara matched to the body colour along with black leather or black Alcantara? Make it look like a Maclaren MP4-12C or something.

Competition sound meh they just weigh the car down and make them handle crappier. My mate has an 2012 STi and spent 5k on audio on it but tried to keep it looking kinda factory (eg. raised boot floor but matching factory style carpet). All up with the reinforcing and sound deadening, added a good 100kg to the car.

His 1500kg car was now 1600kg sans driver, even with 222kW at the wheels, he wasn't really pulling away from my 1400kg sans driver 155kW soobie.

If you could do sound on the minimum weight to keep the car at it's original kerb weight along with a new body and not make it look ugly, then I'll truly be impressed.

Most excellent!

Post up some current pics!

Maybe you should give Terry at Road and Track a call - rumour has it that he has/had his hands on a s/c 2gr.

Not really sure why you want a car that you won't legally be able to drive until you have your open licence though.
