Hi Guys,
I have a set of fog lights for an AW11 and have noticed that most people just use one of the bolts that goes through the metal piece underneath the bumper to mount them.

However mounting them this way, the lights are more closer towards the centre of the bumper, and doesn't match the factory photos which are always directly underneath the blinkers and parkers.

Does anyone know how do you get the fog lights to sit directly under the blinker/parkers as per the brochure photos?
Are there special mounts or did Toyota just drill holes through the metal piece under the bumper?

Perhaps the jdm MKI's had bolts underneath the bumper that lined up differently than those shipped elsewhere. I just checked the bolts on my USDM MKIa and MKIb. The ones on the MKIa would line the fog lights up as shown in the Toyota photos/renderings. However, the MKIb bolts are farther towards center as you mentioned.

Thanks for checking, my mr2 is a Mk1b Japanese import and the bolts are more towards the centre too. I'm starting to think that all Mk1b's have the off centre holes.

Can anyone shed some light as to how they managed to center the fog lights, i'm very curious as to how they did it from the factory/dealer.

Honestly. it wouldn't surprise me if they photo-shopped the MKIb pics.

Yea, you're probably right, the brochure images are all edited anyway.

Wouldn't be hard to make simple brackets that position them under the indicators.

I attached mine using the bolt hole on the inside of the indicators. Might modify it so they align as per the image above.

Nice car, they look pretty cool off-centre of the indicators too.
How would you mount the custom brackets if you were to make some?

Maybe you could do as you suggested and drill a new hole through the metal piece (but don't drill through the plastic bumper) and just have a bolt sticking down through the new hole. Attach the foglight bracket with a nut to the bolts threaded section. Hope that made sense :)

How I have it now is basically underneath the bolt that goes up through the metal piece and into the bumper.

Yea, i might dry drilling a hole in the metal piece. I'll find a spare one first in case i mess it up lol.

I have the oem retracting foglight mounting kit at home. From recollection there is a flat plate which mounts to the metal strip underneath the bumper, and then there is a 90 degree bracket which attaches the foglights to that plate. As for where they line up in relation to the indicators, I have no idea as I have not yet fitted mine.

Have you got some pictures to post up of your fogs?
