This is not so much urgent but it's something I have to get done. Just wondering what insurance company is cheapest/easyest company to go with, I have an 88 aw11 and all the company I have called have said that the car is not on the system and they can't give me a price or details. Oh yeh all I'm after is 3rd party. Any healp would be much apreciated.

The availability of coverage varies greatly, depending on whether you MR is an import or an ADM. When I first bought my AW, Shannons were the only ones who would touch an import. Don't know if that is still the case.

I'm with these guys too. My first year of owning an MR2 I was with Just Car Insurance but Lumly Special Vehicles (the above link) beat them once I'd bothered to shop around.

I have both aw11 and sw20 with ING at full comp. SW20 around $750 pa and aw11 about $100 less. I just checked Coles insurance and found they would insure my aw11 for $500. Not sure if that's good or not.

I called LSV today, and have advised they are no longer doing insurance for MR2 turbos.

I currently have my SW20 turbo insured with Just car for third party + fire/theft

i'm about to take that up to comprehensive with shannons.
at the time, i couldn't afford the comprehensive insurance, and shannons didn't offer fire/theft with third party.

at $1200 for my modified SW turbo, i'm not going to get much better (particularly at the age of 21)
they're covering me for the hiflowed turbo, coilovers, and all the other bits and pieces.

if you actually bother reading all the fine print, you may notice a few pleasant surprises.
for example, shannons cover racing with only a 400-500 excess on top of normal. peace of mind.

also, if its written off, they let you keep the wreck as well as paying out the agreed value.
cover for defensive driving courses, and good service.
