as you can see in my rego paper, why is my sw20 year 2002 ???

something about the placement of my fog lights, doesn't look right
does stock sw20 comes with a front lip?
any ideas on how to align the bumper?
the gap between the bumper and the hood is huge, but the sides seem to be just fine

also I just bought the side indicators from a wrecker in Hurstville,
he sold it to me with the front lights for a low price
I also got to see clean red sw20 which he has in his garage
I'm planning to add those in this weekend, I just hope the indicator wirings are still working.

thanks :D

Hi mate.
I have the same issue with my jdm import subaru legacy.
They put the year it was imported into aus and given new vin, rather than the original manufacture date.
My legacy was made in 96 but rego papers say 2001.

Hi preemo

noob question
for green slip and insurance
did you put in 2001 or 1996, cause in my case, they don't make sw20 in 2002

thanks for your help

Rego papers = As PREEMO has stated is normally the case.
Question: Is it a JDM? (has JDM front guards, indicators etc)

Fog Lights = Maybe missing the correct brackets behind them. They can only be fitted one way.

Front lip = Yes all sw20s came with a lower bumper lip, yours is missing.

Bumper alignment = I would suspect it has been in a front accident at some point in time, hence the missing bits, poor alignment etc that you are describing.
I would first remove the front bar & check it still has a 'Reinforcement Crash bar' there.  Often they are damaged & removed as result of a front end accident, & never reinstalled, or they are removed to allow fitment of an aftermarket front bar.
If it is missing, looks though yours is, that would explain the lack of support the bar is getting, hence the large gap being visable.

Hope this helps.

just opened the hood, this looks like rust,
is this part of the chassis? is not like a metal plate I can replace right?

the gap is huge, I think I'll get a new 'TBO' style bumper

anyone know if this this plastic grill part part meant to in this position or it meant to sit higher and covers the yellow foam,

also the rubber part right below the window is going away (not the window trim), the chrome underneath is showing,
I don't think I can get a good one from a wrecker as is like a very think rubber piece,
I wonder if amayama has them

the last owner had fake brembo covers over the calipers
I just had to remove them..... it leaves behind the yellow superglue, I will get a wire brush one weekend and get that off, and maybe respray the calipers, want to get my disc turned too

all of my wheel nuts are very rusty inside, I want to replace them also before they are jammed or the danger of the wheels will flying out

You could treat the rust in the frunk with rust neutraliser and re paint.
While you're at it maybe remove the plastic trim and check around the battery box and treat any rust the same way.

As Carmikey says the hood gap looks like no support underneath causing sagging.
If that is the case the easiest fix might be to fit the proper parts to support it.

If the top of the dash is badly distorted or broken, if you are really keen you could get a full S/H replacement dash.

The trim just below the drivers window is called a 'belt molding' but they are expensive, and some places won't ship them because they get bent in transit making them useless.
With my own car I found you can easily repaint them (matt black rattle can), but it takes time to do properly and you need to mask it off carefully and sand it to get a good finish.

The rusty wheel nuts may not be a problem if the rust is only on the inside hex surface of the nuts.
Undo them and see there is any rust on the wheel studs.
If so use a wire brush to clean it off, but don't put grease on them.

Wheels falling off??
Mag wheel nuts should always be torqued up properly with a torque wrench.
I do mine at 65 ft/lbs

thanks Reddtarga for your detailed reply

the belt molding wow cost like US$114 from eBay
checked on amayama US$69 but they have some many options

On gumtree right now, someone is selling some doors for sw20,
Will second hand belt molding work?
anyone tried doing this?
I painted my old mr2 ones, but I used gloss paint and it turned out bad...

thanks

From the look of your other posts the belt molding might be the least of your worries lol.

Anyway when painting them the result will depend on the time you take to do it, and  definitely satin black, not gloss.

Wow, your MR2 is the spitting image of mine. Black, Deformed bumper, missing lip (Which I recently purchased one online, new $90). Dash damage exactly the same spots, and sun damage on window frame.

Did you ever sort out your deformed bumper?
