is gumtree getting popular everywhere else? I've only just recently been checking it out and come across some good things. Ppl that have used it have told me it was much simpler than ebay, and at no cost?

^^ gumtree sure is cheaper but I have heard of a few horror stories when buying through there. Not much buyer protection at all.

^^ Sure, I have bought and sold a few things here too, its all by bank deposit with the occasional paypal. 
 
Like here, there is an amount of honesty and trust involved. When all is said and done - if you get ripped off by a liar on gumtree or here you don't have a lot of comeback.

Sometimes an ebay thing, as they allow no upfront listing fees on local pickup.
They only charge once it sells.
You might find the seller is actually happy to ship.
