Hey guys, so I made a thread a while ago regarding my spark leads, dizzy cap and rotor. I set a bit of money aside so I want to try and get around to replacing these parts. Unfortunately I don't even know if my current parts are faulty/need replacing but I figured I may as well have a try.

I know this is a pretty trivial thing but I've never ordered OEM parts or anything so I want to make sure I'm using my money to purchase the right parts. I'm pretty sure I've got the right part numbers - everything should be for a Gen. 3 3SGE. Can anyone give me their opinion on where to pick up the part(s) for a better price or is Amayama the way to go?

Rotor part no. - 19102-74040



Distributor Cap part no. - 19101-88364
(why is there two separate prices? is it because one is in a local warehouse whereas the other is overseas?)

Amayama is the way to go.
Sometimes items from the U.A.E is cheaper to buy but the freight costs is higher and I found delivery longer.
Check your part numbers for what's on the car now or I tend to use www.villagetoyotaparts.com (from memory of the website name).
Depending on the parts; check on eBay for aftermarket parts. Depending on your beliefs, however I found aftermarket ignition parts from bosch or ngk (check the part options and go for higher quality option) to be as good as original Toyota parts.

From the U.A.E? Unfortunately the Village website you linked doesn't have the 3SGE as one of their driveline options so I don't think I'll be getting the right part.

When you shop on flea-Bay for the parts, how can you guarantee you're looking at the right one?

Check your genuine parts, as most have part numbers on them.

eBay, message them and ask them. Buy from highly rated sellers and use PayPal for any dispute resolutions. Check that there picture looks like what's on your car. The distributors are recognisably different in the plug angles and if there are locator lugs on them or not.

Make other sites your friends like UK website Ben mr2 and twos r us. Or consider looking on other part number websites for Toyota (can't recall the others - Google it) or village with other Toyotas with the gen 3 3sge engine.

I always buy from amayama Japan now after being stuffed around with UAE.

Bond and Rutherford Toyota in NZ I always found to be quite good.  Very prompt and prices quite good.  Have all the gen 3 gear also.
 
I can probably find the contact I used to use there if necessary.

Does anyone know if the quoted price on Amayama includes shipping? I converted it to AUD, and it'll cost me about $205 AUD, but if that's not including shipping, it's going to get rather expensive

Prices are cheap, go to your Toyota dealership and get a quote. Or look on eBay.

No amayama does not include shipping" you submit your request, takes about three days for the, to confirm stock, they update with shipping.

The parts are cheap for how long between service changes for those items. I wouldn't go standard leads and I wood spend more but that's just me.

Hoonys, TonyMR2 is right you can't expect to get something for nothing, wouldn't it cost more in your time "shopping around"? just saying... I'd go to your local Toyota dealership most service items are in Sydney warehouse beats waiting on Amayama I paid, waited 4 weeks and got told "parts weren't available we will have to partially refund your order" (no refund on shipping difference BTW) then waited a further 3 weeks! for my partially complete order to arrive.

For the early model 3SGE genuine plug leads I found the local Toyota dealer quoted well over $300 while from Amayama the cost was about $130 AUD including shipping.
Was certainly worth waiting a couple of weeks to get them, along with saving a couple of hundred dollars 
On the other hand the distributor cap was another story. I can't remember where I got mine but it was much cheaper than Amayama. May not have been genuine Toyota but probably just as good.
