While my engine is out and the car is off the road for a while I had a crazy thought to go all out and strip the engine bay, paint it black (its yellow atm) and do a wire tuck.
I've got the bay empty except for brake lines and now just trying to work out the wire job.
So like most of the tuck jobs you see in pics I'm wanting it put the fuse box in the boot. I'll also be wiring in a haltech ecu as the engine goes in later.
So first question, what way do most people go out of the cabin? I see my 2 options being come out of the cabin as usual and then route the harness through the side intake hole then up over the wheel. Or I believe there should be enough room to cut a hole in front of the side intake to route the harness through without going into the engine bay at all. This would look neatest but would require cutting.
Next question. Unluckily the fuse box wont fit above the rear wheel to put it in the boot. I have the box pulled completely apart but there are 10 unremovable wires from the centre piece. It would have been great if this fitted above the rear wheel as there looks to be enough length in the harness to reach the boot. Is my only option to cut and rejoin these 10 wires? Or is there a connection inside the cabin for the harness that I could thread over the rear wheel starting the boot end? Is there anything else I'm missing when attempting this? If I need to cut wires should I lengthen?

I'm also hiding the engine lid release cable, pretty straight forward it seems, through the hole the fuel lid release goes through, then over the wheel and in the back. I need to make holes in some metal in the boot area as the cable isn't long enough and this sould let me reach the latch no worries.

I'll take photo's of my progress over the next few days, sadly the car is covered in a nice big layer of dust but I'll get this cleaned up too.

Thanks for your advice everyone

Yes easier to unplug the harness under the kick panel on the passenger side and feed it from the back. If i remember right it is only 3 plugs that fed through easily for me

Glad I asked cause I was so close to chopping wires haha
So do I make a hole behind the door for it?

Thereis also a wire that goes up to the high levelbrake light that you will have to unplug. I cut a hole in mine so it does not have to go into the engine bay. I think I have pics in my show room thread. You will also have to extend the wires on the engine harness that plug into the fuse box and the thick cable from the ALT to the fuse box.

The hight level brake light wire is to short? So that's the only one I'll have to lengthen. I'll try and get around to it tomorrow
Most of the engine harness will have to be made for the haltech anyway I'm guessing.

There are no wires on the body harnesses (fuse box) that have to be extended. You just need to unplug the high level brake light and a couple of plugs under the passenger kick panel.

To do the tuck on the eng lid release cable you only need to drill one hole where you want it to come out into the bay... My cable was plenty long enough to reach.

Those might help.  There is also a good write up on IMOC but I'm having issues logging onto it ATM but i'll link it for you later.

The hole drilled in the 2nd pic is for the wire loom?
My trunk cable follows the fuel release cable all the way from the drivers to the fuel filler. Along every clip in the cabin and through the same hole. And it comes up a couple of inches short.
I have 2 ways to make it reach.
1. unclip it from the clips behind the drivers seat, this will let me pull it further and it will run diagonally from the lever to the top of the tunnel instead of up and across like a square..
2 drill a hole in a piece of metal at the top left of the boot. it will let it sit next to the wall of the boot/engine bay instead of going around whatever the brace thing is.
I'll go out and take some picks
