MR2JANAI
Hey all,
Just a few pics of my 88 AW11 SC. I found when living in Japan last year.
I got it on the road over there and drove it around for about a year. Ive only shipped it to Aust about 6 weeks back. Yet to get it on the road.

This is the week after i picked it up. As you can see 100% stock. It has 110,000kms on it. Very clean car inside and out. Only problem I can find is a sticky throttle cable (fixed with WD40).

First mod was to get European spec cluster with 240km/h speedo. Had an original 7000kms..ish on it.

Second was the HKS pod filter in the boot.

Interior was in great condition but it had an SW gearknob so I swapped it for a White TRD one.

Started to get a little serious with some Works 16" wheels and RS-R springs. Handling was similar but the car dropped about 2 1/2 inches.
Also got rid of the rear spoiler for a while.

Leading up to fitting a larger crank pulley for the supercharger i fitted a boost gauge and dif the bypass mod. Fitted the Nevo pulley soon after. Boost after the mod and after i sorted out the slipping belt was about .8 bar.

Fitted some spats strut braces (actually only put the rear on) but soon after replaced with much thicker sectioned cusco braces front and rear.

Started to get a bit bored with the car for a bit until i found some deep deep dished 8" wide works rims (Pic is taken at toyota-city staduim)

After that i went weekend racing in it. It did very well but its handling was seriously flawed. So i purchased some coilovers from Yahoo auctions.

...and thats basically when i shipped the car back to Australia (coilovers will be installed after its rego'ed)
All I need now is to install a nice quite exhaust to get it on the road in Aust. If anyone have a quiet..ish exhaust to a SC let me know.
I will keep posting as the car changes.

Matt

Mr2Janai = Mr2 is not? what the....?

Wish I'd spent enough time in Jland to buy a car, looks like you're bringing back a sweet Dub. Look forward to seeing it at some vic meets.

Thanks all,
Now im just looking forward to getting it on the road.
Getting a new exhaust made up for it on Monday and getting it engineered during the week. Spoke to the engineer today all sounds good....I hope it turns out that way.
Has anyone had the experience of getting an engineer to look over their AW. I can't think of what they will pick on?
Then I will try and find a Vic Roads that I can book it into for next friday....then make the most of having my car on the road all next weekend....

Sweet car - tell me did you notice any difference going from the (I assume) standard piping and filter to the open filter in the trunk? More induction noise? More power?

Nah to be honest I noticed no difference. But I think it looks pretty cool. Its too far away and at the back of the car to be able to hear it over the supercharger and exhaust. I also think in regards to the intake the filter isn't the weak link for performance with the supercharged engine. With such a long path from the throttlebody to the head even if you got rid of the filter I dont think you could tell any diff.
Has anyone else noticed any change by putting a pod filter on a 4AGZE?
