Hey guys, my SW20 NA instrument cluster has excessively high resistance and it is proving a pain to locate the source so I thought I would see if anyone has something that I can afford.  My particular issues are with the tachometer and water temp gauges.

It doesn't matter what the gauge is out of eg. auto, na, turbo etc.  even is you have bits I would be keen to hear about it.

Please let me know what you have and $$ including postage to Brisbane (or I can pickup if you are local).

Thanks

check the Facebook page someone was selling not long ago.
also good time to put some new LED light on cluster

Your issues sound like an easy fix as there are only a couple of things that can go wrong, it’s common on clusters and easy/cheap to fix.
Water temp sensor, checked by putting the plug on the wire to metal and seeing if the water temp goes all the way to hot. If it does means the sensor needs to be replaced ($30 or so). If it doesn’t then need a new diode in the gauge or replace. If it’s not moving at all then usually break in cable.
Tachometer, checked against a digital instrument, if doesn’t follow the increase in rpm with acceleration it’s the diodes, if needle jumps when you turn the ignition on it’s starting the car and whilst running reliving the needle and reposition to rpm then turn car off.
Diodes are matched at your local jay at for about $5 each and a little soldering.

I am in Brisbane and think I have a spare cluster bits that you are after - if you want to spend more but just plug and play. PM me for details.

Thanks guys.  Currently there are no clusters available on the Facebook page, but led's....Hmmmmm!  My dimmer won't work anymore but it will certainly look good (and bright).

TonyMR2, the temp gauge was working intermittently and has since stopped completely.  I have checked the signal feed to the cluster and it is good so I'm looking for bad or cracked solders at the moment, I don't think this one is a diode issue but I will swap it just to be on the safe side (35c from Jaycar).  The tacho is working but severely out of sync, I have an apexi AFC Neo which gives me an accurate tacho signal directly from the ECU and the tacho in the dash is definitely out of sync.  I have the F20C engine but have a circuit converting the 5v square wave to a high voltage signal output, I thought this may be the culprit but after building another circuit and testing it (tested perfect) I'm still getting the out of sync reading.  I have never encountered a diode that had a built up resistance (thought I'm hardly the expert), I will try swapping that and see if it makes a difference.  Failing all of this I will contact you about your bits and pieces.

Next thing I need to build a can bus decoder for the oil level sensor and the oil pressure light, everything else is analogue.  Oh I almost forgot, the fuel gauge is all over the shop and I just assumed it was the sender unit (very common) could this also be a cluster issue?  Is there anything in particular I should check to confirm before I go pulling everything apart?

Thanks again.
