Wow, worse than I thought.
BTW, Amayama have the genuine plug leads for $101 Aus, ex Sydney so shipping wouldn't be much

Got my quote back, don't think I'll be ordering genuine parts from Toyota haha

Bet I can beat that :D

EDIT: $101.82 for the cap, $129.62 for the leads (Amayama FTW!)

Is $100 reasonable for a set of genuine plug leads? Cause I was wondering if there's any downsides to going aftermarket instead (not that I know of any - I saw on Twos'r'us that the STI plugs are decent)

$100 for the cap?? Fair enough it's a genuine part but is it really that much better over a $30 Bosch one from SCA?

OEM ones will outlast you/the car/your ownership of said car.

And SCA/Repco wouldn't know a MR2 even if it bit them in the ass.

Can't entirely agree with it, literally just 2 hours ago I saw a post on Facebook about a mate's girlfriend being hired at SCA. Neither him nor her have turned a wrench in their life.

So I was letting the car warm up after Tafe today as it was a cold day and I noticed a pretty strong smell of fuel. I didn't get out to check my car but I feel like that could be the result of my bad fuel eco / power loss - a dang fuel leak.

How can I go about visually inspecting this? From what I understand the fuel tank is pretty tucked away, so I can imagine it's going to be quite a mission to check for leaking fuel lines or a leaking fuel pump

IMO go for genuine leads because apart from being high quality, you won't have to worry about fit

Yeah I sourced some spark leads on eBay for $80 delivered, but I noticed at the bottom they had in bold 'Not suitable for Bathurst model' so I figured it'll be tricky to find the right fitting.

Also can anyone give me advice on how to locate a fuel leak? And is there a way to check the pump on these cars without dropping the tank?

Another possibility for bad fuel economy is a blocked up catalytic converter.
