Peter is working on getting a track day run by someone else on Monday the 8th. I'll be there on the 8th if something is on at Wakefield Park.

I'll be there..

I believe Peter is due to lose a lot of money due to the event being cancelled. This might help him recover some of the money he'll otherwise lose. He put his own money up to secure the event for the MR2 community, and spent countless hours on the organisation of it, so let's show him some support!

Thanks Rick for the sentiments and support. Your commitment to the event and your 4000km annual pilgrimage from Ceduna is an inspiration to us all. As you know, we all look forward to this annual "MR2 Family Reunion", but unfortunately, for various reasons, the final numbers this year did not just stack up.

With around $4000 in no refundable event deposit at stake (and I totally understand Wakefield Parks's deposit requirements), I met with the new track manager, Deane Chapman to see what could be done to salvage our event and to alleviate or at least minimise my financial exposure.

As you know this event is a community run event which has been operated on a break even basis to keep the costs of participating as low as possible.

We also held discussions with John Boston, director of Trackschool, to provide the best possible outcome or the MR2 Community in the circumstances and to see that the event continues to thrive in both 2018 and beyond.

In an arrangement that is satisfactory to Wakefield Park Management, Trackschool and myself, John Boston will conduct a single day OPEN PIT LANE for us on Monday October 8. We have still forfeited the deposit of the cancelled second day of the MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge. Such is life.

These open pit lane days are restricted to a maximum of 35 cars and Trackschool have the right to sell any places not taken up by the MR2 Community and friends.

The event includes as many laps as you care to cover and you can hit the track as often and whenever you care to do so. At previous such events, some entrants have cut over 90 laps.

Included are pit straight garages, 95 db limit, ambulance, grid marshall, Natsoft timing, photography, full high quality catering for morning tea, lunch and afternoon teas, along with tea, coffee and drinks available all day.

Of course it also includes excellent professional driver instruction which is sure to help you lower your lap times in that quest for your personal best.

There will be awards for MR2s in various classes.

Cost for the day with these inclusions, and such limited numbers,  is a very reasonable $350, just a little more than the single day charge we were making for our ill fated 2 day event.

All those who booked for the full Challenge will be contacted personally by me and and refunds made where appropriate.

If you could not make the original two day event but wish to come along on Monday October 8, please contact me directly, either by personal message on here or Facebook or by email to mr2wpc@iinet.net.au

Help us to keep the MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge alive. Looking forward to seeing you at Wakefield on October 8

YAAYYYY  Thanks Peter.
I'm keen to stay at the track on the Sunday & Monday nights for our MR2 family social, if others want to.

Cheaper than most places in town & better than the cheap places in town.

Thanks again for all your effort on this, Peter. It is very much appreciated.
I'll be there on the 8th with the MR2 unless something goes very wrong this coming Saturday.
If it does, I'll bring the GT4.

I'm in for the Monday. Parts finally arrived today so will be running in a few days.
Open pit lane will be great. Just like the Wednesdays after MTC. Will be asking Neil Trama to come along so I can track tune the MR2.

Now that's what I like to here.  Track tuning, can't beat it. Better than any dyno tuning.  Will you be logging fuel pressure?

Richard (Kojab), you need to bring one of those cars along on Monday 8 October. MR2s provide a lot more fun on the track than they do in the garage and with an open pit lane you get more than ample time for track tuning.

Yes was always planning on track tuning but the base tuning had to be done on the dyno due to the vvti etc.

I have not run the car since the last MR2 Challenge due to changes made, running in of the Canadian's engine, work and personal commitments. It will be going to the tuner first as I have made a few changes to intake and injectors then refinement at the track. Neil has a great track tune/data acquisition package which will be used on the car.

It will be great to be doing this work with some of the MR2 around.

I'll do everything I can to have my car ready for this (unfortunately relying on parts arriving and couple of other things) but would be great to have it ready in time. Unfortunately I also won't know if it'll be ready until close to the date so if there's a spot still going by then
