Hey,

I long time ago I bought a greddy cooler from Dylan and it came with blue painted piping.

Never been a fan of it so finaly pulled it out. I'd ideally like to get it back to standard look or I'll just paint them black.

Anyone got any tips to try and get the blue off? Only idea ive got is paint thinner and some scrubbing

If I can work put how to upload photos on my phone I will

I've used over cleaner on a chrome part that someone painted. Spray on, wait 5 mins, wipe off. Depending on how thick the paint is might need a couple of goes. Didn't affect the chrome at all.

Or try a hardcore paint remover spray from your local hardware or car parts store. Not sure what it would do to the aluminium underneath though.

Maybe even just sand the all the parts smooth (not removing all the blue finish) and spray your black over the top?

The blue paint is the factory Trust/Greddy finish in case you didn't know.

Or you could just drop the parts off at a powder coater? They will blast them clean and coat in your colour choice. Including the exhaust heat shield, X bar and brackets if you wanted.

Nah I didnt know it was standard. Its not chrome underneath as far as I can tell. Eill probably just prep and spray it myself in black.

And yeah I know i can get it powder coated, just dont want pay for it haha.

Got some pot belly high temp paint that should do the trick. The heat sheild ill just try and clean up as best as possible.

One of the bolts for the sheild has been snapped off at some stage so only has 2 holding it in haha.

Might look at putting a rear strut in too, just not sure where to get a decent afternarkrt one. TRD ones are still painfully expensive it seems

Paint stripper and wrap it in glad wrap. Leave if for 10 minutes and then hose off. Wear gloves to do it though. If you cant be bothered going to the hardware store, find some caustic oven cleaner spray at the supermarket, nearly as effective.

Have a peek inside all those pipes too. Fat wad of rag tied to a length of wire and soaked in solvent.
Used as pull through.

I went the hard slog and copper wheeled it bare. Now I just need to work out how to seal it so it wont just rust up
