It's inspirational too see a such a well cared for example of an aw11 customised to your tastes and doing daily driver duties as well. The car looks stunning!

More of the same, again. Crossed the half-way point of 2015.. and charging on towards 10years of AW11...

...and then, despite being more than a bit naff...

Hello.

They're bloody huge. The front one needs to sit back against the grille, whether you want it to or not. As if holding a newpaper in the breeze by the corners; the first trip to 100km/h will have this thing pressed right back.
Vicroads also cleverly got the holes too high on the plates, so will need to be elongated down (<10mm) to fit front and rear.
..then theres the choice of slimline text..! :S

Gah! I feel your frustration with the J plates! Oi 10 years of solid dedication and attention to detail. Looking good as ever man.

Got the car some new shoes recently. well, other than the ones its absolutely surrounded by - these ones were specifically to use on the car!
Rays engineering, Super Volk. 14". 1984 Production.
I'd picked up a NOS 15" set not long back, and had pretty much fallen in love with these things. High-end and period perfect, proper left/right directional, and technically interesting - including cast hollow spokes allowing the valve to be mounted behind the centrecap.
Got a complete and unrestored set off Yahoo. 31years of use had left them in a pretty sad state...

with a NOS cap for comparison..

with one of the NOS 15's..

I had ordered a set of Eibachs to use in it WAY back in the year, but havent bothered to do anything with them.. never organized shocks, andsoon..
SO. BC's down off the shelf again, and in they went!

..still set to how they were years ago..! hah

Old NeoChro Project Kics nuts came back out too. Hidden behind the cap though.. but keeping that valve company...

and toghether..:

Absolutely stoked with how it looks. Period perfect, nice and bright, and all just a bit of fun!

6months later, but again.. cheers!
Reading back through this makes it seem like I ignore the nice words/comments, but I notice! Maybe it's because I leave so long between replying.. between fresh updates.. whatever. Yep, I'll go with that...

Well.
Anyway.
Here it is.
Sometime right-about-now-ish is 10 years. Ten bloody years of AW11. A full decade with a car I've had since I was 18.
A nothing-number for many.. but for a young (..and that term is becoming less-suitable fast..) car-enthusiast, that's a serious damn commitment. SO many cars I'd have ab-so-bloody-lutely LOVED to own, but struggled to make room for in my life. I always had that 'rotational third spot' luckily, but Little Red has been locked into the number one position. I just love it too much.. so damn attached to it.. the nostalgia.. and STILL (as mentioned SO many times in the past) have no intention to ever move it on..
That ridiculous attachment to this car means I spent an absolute fortune keeping a worn-out car on the road, but so what eh? It was no accident. Unemotional/un-attached car-owners would've WISELY moved it on for a better/younger example long before this point.. but no.. I couldn't.. so the decision (while foolish!) was very clearly made. Stupid, but I've got the same AW11 I've always had, right here. My red, sunroof, Aussie '87.
So ten years, ~120,000 limiter-bashing km, and a current odo of ~420,000km. Daily on-and-off, and always kept despite combined years of license-loss, injury, and defect-related cancelled reg. It always bounced back.
Hopefully in the coming years it can relax a little more again.. ease into even more occasional use.. and I'll be able to stretch it out as-long-as-I-bloody-can before the damn doors fall off...

Leeeeeel Reehhhhhhhh...

Yep?
Done.
