damn you RDS you bought the box I was gonna buy (the black one) :P the guy on toymods had the box and set of quads for sale, I asked for both together but just missed the box, so I got the quads only. If you want to sell one of the boxes I will be happy to take it off your hands.

I wonder if thats why 4age 20v alternators mount a couple of inches lower than the 16v alternators, to clear the box, lucky me I have 20v alternator mounts :P

sorry..! someone actually gave me a headsup PM about it - obviously not you! ha

But you're saying the 20v alternator mount is different eh? Is the alternator the same(size?)?
Sounds like a way around this problem..

Oh man my ears were burning! I try to help those where I can with parts I come across, but it only works if you know someone is after a part! Sorry Wiso, I thought of you when I noticed the guy in the states selling Formula Atlantic TRD quads and fuel rails, but then saw their price tag :S

Has been a while eh! The year's gone very quick - hard to believe its almost December..

Teh adoob has gone, was absent for ages, then finally returned from its little paint excursion. Had the right side, front spoiler, panels above the spoiler, and rear guard lips, repainted in a single-stage acrylic as it was originally. It was a pain to get done compared to just painting the whole thing (SS Acrylic, colour matching to old paint, and painting as little as possible), but the majority of the paint has just got too much character to wipe away.
I'm very happy with it anyway. Will basically look how it did in older pics - but back to having neat unrolled rear lips, and no more orange right-rear-quarter! :)

Before:

and now.. yep!

So we've still got all the faded, chipped, and buffed through paint on all the upper panels... but that's how I like it. :)

In the last couple weeks I've just been slowly piecing it back together. Just making sure everything is right, neat, clean, straight, etc as I go - so takes time. Lots of new clips, brackets and bolts helps... and I have old pictures to make sure everything is as it should be.

Been busier lately with another project - my new to-be daily!
Its a 1984 Toyota 4Runner SR5. First year, Solid-axle, 5speed, blue-on-blue, etc. Very original and unmolested for its age, and a local car from new. Good stuff.
Have been tidying it up top-to-bottom over the last few weeks, and plan to sort the upper rear tub area (where it meets the canopy) over the christmas holidays - its has some serious rust issues in that area.
Overall I want to keep it just as it is. Its got a ton of character, and i ****ing love it. 1984 in 4WD form..

ANYWHEY, thats all for now I'd say. Little red will get closer to complete over the next few weeks; and then I've got to sort out what I want to do for rego (club or full). We'll see..

Love the 4Runner! Where did you find it? That blue interior is so typical, do you ever feel like you should be wearing flairs and a gold chain around your neck when driving it?
Toyota made cars with character in the 80's, so different to the moving white goods they have churned out for sale in Australia in recent times (86 excepted of course - shame its half Subaru). Its tremendous that you can still find older Toyotas like your SR5.
Keep up the great work on the AW11 also, these are getting very to find and I seem to be seeing more people taking them back to stock. Your use of the original teardrop alloys is making me think hard about getting mine refurbished and putting them on.
Look forward to this thread continuing!!

Very cool you have another awesome old Toyota. The Evo was very cool too, but yeah not a Toyota and not old-school enough! Shouldn't have any bother dailying this one either.

I couldn't agree more about the character of the cars of that age. It's a unique blend of new-school technology and reliability, but coupled with the old school styling. The 90's lept forward in styling, but I don't know if they age as well.

As for the 86, it might be half Subaru, but FHI are also guilty of churning out whitegoods these days too. My 2005 soobie was pretty much the latter of their golden years, my MY13 Impreza still has a remnant of the handling feel its predecessors do, but that's the only thing that won me over buying it compared to its rivals, everything else is just too far removed from its lineage.

Keep the lil 'red pics coming, Don't ask me how the hell you keep your car so clean even when it's in pieces! My Autodub has a slight coating of dust which I keep an eye on; I don't see how I could keep it clean more than 2 days without driving it.
