Lol, yeah shenanigans. YOLO?

They all come in less than ET3....
I need at the very least ET20 since I don't have very hard springs.

I meant more so because I cant not have fun in a car. I adore BNR32's.. but know the occasional shenanigans will be inevitable. :(

With the Watanabe's, there should be no reason you cant get ones that are spot-on? (I think even Otomoto distribute them nowadays).
You sure as hell dont need flares to fit 15x8's either! :)

If you don't go any wider than 7", you can get F8 style Watanabe's in ideal offsets for the adub.

The only issue here is the F8 style isn't deep dish or anything. Still a fairly light rim and obviously period correct.
14x7 +21 is available
15x7 +15 or +21 is available
If you fancy 16" with ultra low profile tyres, you might get these to fit
16x7 +25
16x7.5 +20 or +25
16x8 +25 or +30

Yeah, I want them to be deep and flush... so F8 style won't do, hence the comment to fit the R type I would need flares.

A little over a month on, here's another update - on the continuing cleaning-up of lil reh. :)

I'd hit a wallaby/small kangaroo a couple years ago, which had damaged a lot of the bumper/front-lip area, and bent the lower radiator-support section back an inch or so. Nothing bad, but it made it all a bit tatty.
So off came all the front-end panels:

At the same time, I took the opportunity to remove the last of the aircon gear. The compressor and main undercar lines were removed a couple thousand KM ago (seals in the compressor finally had given up..), so was of no use.

It'll be a few weeks while I organize getting the front end panels redone, so on with other things.

Front coil-overs removed, with standard struts/springs back in.

So so much higher.. and softer..
Bit hard to see the radical height change on the front thanks to the lack of front guards; but the rear is bloody extreme.

Out came the rear coil-overs, and standard struts in.
The price you pay for 8.5" wheels on the back of stock body AW11..

I try not to think about it - Definitely hurt when the wheels first went on..

Photo of my exhaust while I was there..

After that, I redid the paint on the hubs/rotors/calipers. I had done the rotors in blue when i put them on, and had the front calipers in black. I wanted more of a stock look, so - since i unfortunately haven't got a sandblaster to make the calipers look original again - silver paint it was.
RR:

then RL:

..then FR:

and finally, FL!

Don't worry about the paint on the actual rotor face. The *hopeful* plan is the pad area will rub off the paint where needed, so i full paint coverage everywhere that doesnt get wiped clean by the rotor..
Anyway, not perfect - but good enough to look through the little holes on the wheels!

Another while-I-was-there thing (and while the rotors were looking so rediculously and artificially pretty in painted silver!), I put the RPF1's against the hub just to see how damn well they fit.
This obviously doesnt take into account the wheels sticking outside the bodyline somwhat; but damn do they fit well!

spot on caliper clearance on the +19 RPF1. AW11's need a good 12mm of clearance here!

Perfect, 54.1mm centrebore:

They miss the strut, tierod end, etc, perfectly. Just nice.

Not sure wether or not I'll run them; but yeah.. impressive.

Teardrop on - look at the horriffic non-coilover droop!

and on the ground..:

..yikes..

Genuinely goes up at least 3"

and done..

Anyway, gotta get those panels done.
in the mean time.. lots more cleaning to do. :)

I've been thinking of restoring my teardrops for when I display my car at shows. I'm starting to come around to the thought that a stock looking car of this age is admired more for looking original. Although the way in which your car was modified was also admirable to an other extreem.

Clean, stock, cars have much more of a universal appeal. While some people find it boring, no one finds it ugly.
On the other hand; you start modifying things, and you'll sure-as-hell get people who disagree with it.

The downside with stock cars is they lack some of the character/personality of the owner, that a modified car shows.

The horrible in-between is modified on a budget, where its no ones real taste. change for the sake of change.. with parts replaced with bits that were just cheap at the time, or things that were easy to do.

I like my car however it looks. Its goofy.. and I just love it regardless. :P

Couple more pics of how its sitting; as I really am starting to love this look again..!

love it.
more parts will be removed soon, so wanted to grab some pics while it was still looking complete from the rear. :)
Heaps of work to do, and a bunch of small pieces should be arriving from Toyota soon..

In other, slightly-more-random news; I managed to find the 1985 and 1987 HKS Power Catalogues. No idea how rare they are to find, but the first I've seen of them. They're awesome.
Now - interestingly..
I've had a tired yet complete HKS AW11 Supercharger setup for a couple years now. Its all written in this thread, but a while after i bought it, I found and purchased the original intercooler that was fitted with the kit (on the same car). Had no idea if it was HKS or not, but wanted to re-unite them regardless.

(main supercharger and intake section, other parts not pictured..)

(top of the intercooler. I have the original piping and joiners too (despite being as flogged out as the rest of it!)

Anyway, flicking through the 1987 catalogue, I find a heap of info on the setup - including that intercooler!

front cover.

So chuffed that its actually the original intercooler for it. Had never heard anything about it before.
maaaybe it does look a little dodgy in the engine bay, but what're you going to do..! :P

If anyone can read Japanese; I'd love to know what it says is included in the 1/2/3 Supercharger kits.

Although the car is currently set up with the ITB's for the moment, part of me is itching to get this stuff restored and added on..! ha.. argh..! :P
