bloody hell - two months since an update..!

a lot has happened.
Not long after my last post, i dropped Lil Reh off at IDB to get some major updates done.
The car was there for 5 or 6 weeks, and I got it back last week.
The car was wired up on the Haltech, had the Walbro fitted, Steering rack rebuilt with the Quaife quickrack parts, ITB's fitted, new throttle cable, 3SGE injectors, and a smallport dizzy.
Cruise control is now gone unfortunately.

Remember here; main priorities for the ITB's were looks and noise, then reliability, then performance.
I'm very happy with how much neater intake side of the engine-bay is. this will be a great base to really neaten it up further. still LOTS of work to be done.
The induction noise at speed is insane.

I'm going to take it to another tuner for a tune/dyno to get a second opinion on making it run its best. its brutal on fuel, pops and burbles at light throttle after a boot, and stinks of fuel. its running rich, and only a matter of time before it starts making itself filthy.

First thing I had to do after i got it home was sort the coolant overflow reservoir.
The Factory AW11 one is huge, and rubs on the filters. It has to go for this setup.

went to the wreckers, browsing for a slimmer overflow.
got this off an AE101 sedan:

Ghetto-cut the bracket down, and mounted it on the factory holes..

Very happy with how simple this went. I'll neaten up the bracket eventually, but absolutely no troubles as-is. sturdy, and out of the way..

Picked up a HKS oil cap and matching rad cap..

Overall shots of the bay. LOVE how straight-forward it looks.

as soon as i got it back, the blue on the Trust extractors rapidly started flaking off!

unfortunate, but the extra air/performance the ITB's provide has created a lot of extra heat output!

Adj. fuel pressure reg where the Cruise used to be.

Still need to mount a catch can i have, and figure some way of running it back into the engine. Supposedly i can run it into the Oil drain from the cooler on the firewall, but I'm yet to have a look.

In other news, more unfortunate and random things happened.
My clutch master cylinder has managed to totally **** itself over the last week! still holds the fluid, but the seals must be shot. it slips straight through the oil, which now just runs down into the footwell and frunk.
The car is booked in at ABS on tuesday for new master and slave cylinders.
At 400,000km, its no real surprise. everything is wearing out so quickly, and it just makes me bleed cash. I'm an idiot, but I love the car too much..!

Interestingly, its a huge month for little red. This little old ****box is now 25 years old..! its a goddamn classic car!
I've owned it since me and the car were both 18. Time goes fast..

Very inspirational! I have similar plans for my a dub, So far just done a cam upgrade and tvis delete plate. inlet+exhaust. Sitting on the shelf are Silvertop itb's and an autronic ecu and loom. Still unsure of wether to build mine into a heavilly tuned N/A or turbo the thing but time will tell. I love the direction your's is going though Ross.

Engine bay looks fantastic now!
Thanks for the AE101 bottle tip. I have been looking for something small to fit in that corner for a while now. $30 later for the bottle, hoses and bracket and it clears the 3sgte inlet manifold perfectly.

Awesome Job! Different route with the engine mods to what I'm doing but mine is a different base.

Lots of goodies in this thread for reference, I've got a set of ssr type c's for the BNR32, wouldn't mind a set for the adub too. Have you sold yours?

Cheers for the AE101 radiator overflow tank setup, will be on my next order for sure.

Agree this IS the best AW11 in Australia period.

Cheers for the nice feedback everyone.

There's probably much better coolant overflow bottle setups to go for; seriously, that was just the best one i found in a couple minutes looking at the wreckers...!

still have the gold SSR Type C's. liked them too much to ever let go of them. they're a good wheel.. i love them on Evo's too.

Faaaairly sure theres much nicer AW11's in this country too..! I can think of some very nice ones. little red is just fkn worn out.

:)

You're way too modest. Sure lil red might not be 100% and has covered a metric ****-ton of kms over the years, but the money you've spent on the level of detail you have does show, no other adub compares. Any flaws it may have does not show up in photos either since A) you keep it meticulously clean. and B) you are good at taking photos.

You should try and get lil red on Speedhunters #Featurethis
