So I've done a bit of reading I think I'm leaning more towards plug and play like the megasquirt
I would like to get one being only minor bolt ons and a decent port and polished intake manifold

I think it would be worth it engines running very well going to have a power run to see how we'll and what sort of power it makes being only Na I think a lot of you will say its a waste of time etc
But I've seen a lot more mr2s closer to stock then mine run it and receiver good results?

Would buy a used one if I could find one if not ill grab one new twos r us only sell them in the 3sgte or 5sfe would the gte be fine for my 3sge? Or would I need specifically the Na one.
Any one used one or for any experience what were your opinions?

But what I was saying having only bolt ons this may still provide some sort of benefit and its got to be better then the safc I had that I was planning on having installed after Wakefield
Well know I have no use for that apexi system ahah

I need to update it with more information with regards to the DIYPNP, MS3PRO (just came out this week) and some other information.
The best place to pickup a MegaSquirt of any forum (MS1/2/3, DIYPNP, MSPNP or MS3PRO) is DIYAutoTune (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/index.php)
If you can swing a soldering iron, the DIYPNP is probably your best option as it is cheap, but has a lot more onboard hardware then a normal MS1/2 which makes it easier to get things off the ground (relay drivers, knock sensing, sequential injection (with a $30 plug in board), sequential ignition).
If you find electronics are confusing and you grab the wrong end of the soldering iron repeated, then a MSPNP is probably your solution, however you will need to talk to Matt/Jerry @ DIYAutoTune to see what is your best option.
 
To use a DIYPNP, I think the Toyota 76 pin one will cover the 3SGE (http://www.diyautotune.co...embled-kit-p-384.html)
According to my google foo, the 3SGE runs a 26, 16 & 22 plug setup. Which will work with 3 out of the 4 sockets on the 76pin setup

You would just plug into the 26, 16 & 22 sockets with your loom connectors.
 
If your at the MR2 Challenge, feel free to come and see me, my AW11 runs on a DIYPNP and I've done a couple of installs using the DIYPNPs and MS2's so I can probably give you some information and maybe a wiring diagram or 3 :)

Yeah cheers man, might have the megasquirt sorted not sure which version a mate has one that he never installed and ill check that out.

Are they car specific or are they one megasquirt suits all?

What supporting mods did you have? Or is it stock engine wise
What kind if increase in power did you get.

They will generally work on anything from a jetski to a motorbike to a car. It all depends on who you set them up and what hardware/configuration you go with and what features you run.
My DIYPNP install is on a mostly stock 4AGE 20V silvertop (Modified intake, exhaust and COP conversion), I installed it due to the stock ecu crapping itself. I have sequential fuel and spark setup, with the onboard boost controller driving my VVT.
With just a quick street tune, it laid down 82.5RWKW, which seems to be a fraction over average for the stock install of these motors. I expect a bit more power once it's tuned properly.

Not to shabby how much of an improvement compared to the stock ecu would you say 5-10-15rwkw?

Yeah I think I may give this ago :) sounds like good experience aswell

Power increase should be the same as any aftermarket ECU, which will all depend on how aggressive the tune is.
I'm looking at getting one of the PnP units. Plugs in the stock loom, has a base tune and will run straight away. Dunno if they do a 3SGE version though.

Yeah that's what I think I'll end up getting aswell aslong as I'm able to do my own tunes aswell

You could probably download someone's base tune anyway

When you setup a tuning project in the Tuner Studio software (The only software you need for MS, http://www.tunerstudio.com/), after inputting parameters of your motor (displacement, injector size, rev limits etc etc) it will actually generate VE and Ignition tables for you. They are generally good enough to start a car on and drive (to some extent) with. You can even use the VEAL auto tuning software (needs purchased from tunerstudio.com). There is no need to run across the internet visiting forums and posting "Someone give me a base map please" threads :D. If your looking to buy a MSPNP, email Matt/Jerry @ DIYAutoTune and see if they can advise if the 3SGE can be adapted easily from the 3SGTE version, it might just be a couple of pins that need swapped around or disconnected (like boost control).
Also, don't buy a MS without a wideband being fitted to the car (Innovate MTX-L's are $200 and work fantastically), it's useless having a fully featured ecu that you can tune everything and not have one of the most important tuning sensors to go with it ;)

Well this ms my mate has
Already has a base tube for his vr6 golf
Is there a way to reset it or delete that map and adapt it for my car or would I be better off buying a new one from Matt the one he has is a ms3x3.57

Also yeah got a wideband installed an innovate lc1
With lambda kit and gauge
And data logging software never used that section tho only got it to monitor afrs but thought if I ever self tune it would be good to have :)
