Hey Jock :) welcome.

When you hit 18. i'd definitely recommend taking the car on a defensive driving course.  insurance companies can like this, and it's a good safe way to get used to the extremes of the car.
take care,
Haydon.

Welcome Jock!  :)

Very clean car you have there.  Looks like a great platform to start off on.

Quick little update! I've done a few (simple) mods here and there and cleaned up the interior/exterior as much as possible:
- clear side and front indicators
- LED gauge cluster
- 2009 Toyota head unit (modified to fit)
- red stitch gear gaiter (with handbrake one on its way)

At the moment I'm looking for some rims, particularly CR Kai's, but not sure if 17s or 18s would be best and what offsets as well, so if anyone could help me out there that'd be awesome. I think I want to keep stock suspension or maybe go for TRD lowering springs, don't really think I want coilovers at the moment. The OEM motorised aerial was stuffed and would keep winding on the way up (but be fine on the way down). I tried a new mast coil but that didn't help so I just opted for winding it a foot or so high and disconnecting the motor. Looks less like an RC car and reception is still perfect.
Everything I've done so far can be converted back to stock if need be as well which I think is good.
A few pics as well, there's heaps more HERE if you feel like taking a look.

(hopefully they work....)

looks nice mate, personally I wouldnt put 18s on, as i think you will lose too much of the good handing, I am pretty sure most people are happy with the 17s... Although there will be a few that love their 18s...

When is this thing coming out on a run?  I remember this car being the only other FL model available besides my white one...

Hi Jock
regarding wheels I've got 17x8 +35 front, 17x9 +35 rear on mine and I think they work very well on my Sdub... I had fail 17x7's all round before which were far from ideal.
Feel free to PM me re wheels etc.
Cheers
Josh

18s = **** tyre selection for them.  You can get a 255/35/18 but on an NA that would be hurrendously over-tyred and would suck gas/power.  Only other option is 225/40/18 which is thinner than what is available on 17s, and still pretty tall for an NA.

Head for 215/40/17 front and 235/40/17 rear and you will be set :D

Not disputing what essdub has to say at all but IMO
235 is a little big for a stock Na
I'm running 205 front and a 215 rear wanting to down grade the front to a 195

Any bigger then say a 215 front and the steering would feel to heavy in my opinion but then again I have a model with no power steering :p
And 215 the tyre I'm running a GT radial champiro hpx
215/40/16 and only cost me 140 a tyre
These tyres are by far the best in wet and dry and in terms of cost the best I have ever owned. And quiet as.

Mine being an earlier model 1990 that tyre set up is quite nice holds to the road on roundabouts at 100kms no issues at all I think any higher the steering would become heavy and you would sap some power
But if your going for looks then go for a fat tyre your own choice.
And my mr2 runs bc br coilovers
Intake/100 cell cat and a full exhaust besides the headers. Still yet to have it tuned and a piggy back installed and a ported manifold to go on new fpr and bored fuel rail :DThis is my opinion however

I'm sure a lot of these guys know what they are talking about but if you were to turbo charge it then probably upgrade the tyres to a fatter tyre.

My 2 cents
Sorry to ramble on
Very nice buy
How much did you pay?

Welcome to the club as tree said many guys that are very nice and helpful hopefully you keep it tidy
Ethan.
