Hey all,

Please provide valid input on Tial stainless steel turbo housing VS Garrett cast iron...

Are you wanting a comparison for tial vs garrett v band housings, or tial vband vs garrett 4 bolt housings?

Size will be .63...on a GT3076R

First, I would like to compare Stainless steel vs Cast iron

Second, Tial vs Garrett (both Vbands)

thanks:)

Ok, well stainless steel retains heat heat better, and radiates it a bit less, has a higher heat handling capacity. It also looks better than a cast.

As for the tial vs garret housing, in the size you are looking at: the finish of the tial housings is a lot better inside and out, so it looks a lot better in the engine bay, and the inside surface is a bit smoother. The tial housing weighs a bit less, as they can afford to case them a bit thinner because they are a made from stainless. Depending where you buy it from, the tial housing will be cheaper bu a fraction. And finally, garretts v band housing is a .61, tials is a .63.

Garretts are usually sold with the vbamd clamps, but no flanges and tials are usually sold with no clamps or flanges. The only reason i would recommend a garrett to someone over the tial is that garrett make twin scroll vbands, and tial only make songle scroll.

The vband is a big plus not having to mess around with gaskets etc and a lot easier to remove if you have to do this often.

I also think the vband is superior from a thermodynamic flow perspective, as the transition from exhaust manifold to exhaust housing is a bit smoother/gentler than the square style of the cast iron version, although its probably negligible.

If you do go for one get it ceramic coated rather than using a beanie as I have seen the stainless steel suffer from discolouration. Im not sure if this is normal but I would rather not take the chance.
