yeah i've thought about w2a but the spearco one generally works alright....just not so great stationary on a dyno for hours of tuning with no air flow lol.

you reckon an mbc would build boost faster than closed loop boost control on the haltec? the haltec set up made a huge difference over stock with the ct26...

I have a GT3071R making 286RWKW (albeit at 23psi) and originally had a Haltech closed loop. I removed this and fitted a mbc and the boost came on earlier and rose quicker. have you played around with the duty cycle on the boost controller? when does your boost come on? dylmrt on the forum also has a GT3076R on his motor.

Im in Hobart btw, where are in TAS are you from?

from Launnie. i havent tried playing with the duty cycle.... but i know when it got tuned the machanic said he could get more bottom and mid range easily if i wanted it, think he just wanted to go easy on the gearbox after i chewed my last one. noticed your boost comes on really well. but 2.2 stroker and the 71mm compressor has to help... what turbine a/r are you running? i'm guessing a .63... i have a nasty feeling i've got a .82.

i really need to learn more about duty cycle for boost and idle control.

been thinking about using an e-boost2, would that control boost better?

I'd take an EBC over MBC anyday due to the consistency. Sorry to say, but you won't get over the 220rwkw mark with the standard fuel pump. Myself & many others know this first hand. You're destined to see a pressure drop.

I'd change pump & IC if I were you. Sidemounts just aren't good enough for mid 200's. Even though the Spearco is the best of em, it'll still hold you back. Might get one run with decent power, but it'll fall over immediately & is just too inconsistent. Go w2a or trunk mount.

That's a nice list of mods!
My engine build is almost finished with the same turbo as yours, I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

On the topic of boost control, I've never understood why people use a separate EBC if their aftermarket ECU can already do it. Boost control isn't trivial in general, but it is fairly basic in comparison to many of the other functions in a decent aftermarket ECU! You should be able to optimise the boost levels with the Haltech.

mmm.., did some looking into the fuel pump thing last night. Seems it's delivering fuel ok for the moment, but as the pump wears out i'm betting there's not much safety margin in it. the fuel regulator has a pressure guage on it that we were checking while it was on the dyno, i can't see it from the cabin unfortunately so i can't monitor it... i also can't remember if it's running at 40 or 60psi... i'll have a look tonight when it's idling. hopefully it's running low pressure and larger injector opening times... this would allow more fuel control and the fuel pump flows more on lower pressures...

about the only pic i could find... first run in tassie with old 150rwkw CT26. tune. Top of the sideling (targa stage) and the brakes had a few issues... i thought my engine bay caught fire cause there was smoke comeing out the vents so i pulled up.

OK, so i was mucking round with the haltech software on my laptop last night. I have a theory about my boost settings and i'm going to have to plug into my computer and download the tune info to find out if i'm right...... last time we did that it completely wiped my tune from the haltech's memory so i'm a little nervous.....

i think my boost controller's duty cycle is too conservative, i think if it was made a bit more aggressive i might get boost a little sooner, cause it's pretty slow coming on... i think this may have been what my mechanic was talking about when he said he'd made it a bit soft in the low/mid...has anyone played with this? does anyone have an opinion about when a 3076 should be making boost with a .82 or .63 A/R housing?
