I was also planning on removing the engine for clutch, cams and timing belt and was considering if I should go that step further as well. When stripping the motor I also noted that the timing belt was starting to brake up after 117km

Maybe someone else can recommend what sort of power a good condition gen3 could make. It wasn't from the power that damaged this engine

Thanks for the info mate, mine's actually a Gen 2 though.
When you say the power didn't do the damage, do you mean that the tuning was simply too careless and therefore too harmful to the engine?

Provided your internals are in good working order & not too old, the standard bottom end can make 250+rwkw, provided the head & externals are all upto the task of course. Less margin for error with tuning of course, so you'd need to be extra careful.

From the looks of the damage. Its safe to say it was tuner related damage.
Looks like it ran a bit too lead and some bits got a bit hot.

Most likely ran lean due to the temp shifting that you had at the drags and your ecu software wasnt program for that

methy Not many people are

Ive picked up the bottom end from the engine builder to dummey assemble to make sure i got all the right holes drilled into the block. Everthing looks ok but wont assemble the internals just yet, still need to get the head done.
Ended up with
5S block and crank
3S Eagle rods
87.5mm CP pistons
ARP head and main studs
ACL race bearings
OS Giken twin plate clutch (R2CD)

And some body work
strated welding and smothing the engine bay

Toms sides and rear

I need to repair the damage on the drivers side before I can try fit the bar and sides. Its a bit worse on the rear 1/4 than I was first expecting. I thoght it was only really the dint above the intake (aswell as the intake panle) but it has crushed the wheel well as well. If I had of looked in front of the rear wheel I would have spoted this.
