I thought I'd put up a bit of a thread about my aw11.

When I bought it in 2001 it was pretty much a stock standard aus delivered '88 na with 190 000ks

It has evolved a bit over the years, but the current specs are:

'88 Aus delivered aw11 (240k speedo :D)

engine and mechanicals
'blacktop 20v engine from '98 levin
EMS stinger ECU
standard C52 5 speed, standard cv shafts

oil cooler using the sandwich plate from the 16v

T3 ram tubes within standard blacktop airbox

20v extractors 4-2-1 with the twin flex joints, followed by 2.25 inch exhaust with removable muffler

wheels/suspension
-15 * 6 inch 5 spoke with 205/50/15 tyres.
-falken azenis 195/60/14 on standard rims for track days

-lowered on king springs
-aftermarket shocks (non-adjustable)

body / other
-dry cell battery relocated to the frunk.
-air conditioning removed
-sound deadening removed
-Engine lid from supercharged mr2 (needs painting)
-mongoose alarm

performance:

best quarter mile at willowbank: 14.745 @ 150.44kmh

QR sprint track: 1:06.8 (with falken azenis)
with normal road tyres (dunlop fm901) it was more like in the mid 1:07 time bracket.

There is plenty of room for improvement with those times, my driving isn't really that great, I wish someone would aim to beat those times in an mr2 of some kind.

pretty much as it is now.

As you can see the engine bay has gone through a few changes.
When na, its much more fun (LOUDER) with no airbox on, and just the open tubes.
The use of the air box now I see as a step towards turboing. The good thing is less air filters to clean [:P]. The four open ones tended to get dirty fairly quickly

Some time slips from over the years. Those times listed are 14.840 against the rx7. 14.859 against the skyline, and 14.767 on the right

Here are a few vids from a test n tune at willowbank.
It is loud because I had removed the muffler for the drags.

Nice, I love a good 20V AW11. How are your engine bay temps, could the airbox use some ducting in the direction of colder air?

I remember racing Adam at Willowbank and thinking 'bloody hell that thing is loud'. Almost put me off. Worse yet he beat me.(bad RT i blame the noise[:I])
I won round 2. IIRC, times were similar (dammit) but I focused a bit for a better RT. We never did get a tie breaker................
Damn 20v's, I better switch to turbo[:x)]

Thanks Domma,
yeah, I'll probably go on another run a bit later in the year. I gotta get off my arse and earn some more money lol. - plus I gotta fix the valve stem seals, so it doesn't blow as much oil smoke.

thanks for all the comments guys.

Fredhoon: Engine bay temps and intake air temps aren't really that bad I think - they could be better though, but once the car is moving there is enough upwards flow through the engine bay to to keep it cool enough I believe.
