Has anybody fitted a 3stge in a aw11?

Richard at the trackday challenge had one. It does require some fabrication work on the chassis though

Kojab and I each own one with a gen3 3sgte.
His uses an st205 W2A configured engine with an S54. Mine is an sw20 version A2A with an E153.

I think someone else has one on here as well.

There is also someone on here with rob/charlies old one as well. As for people that have done it, mr2charlie has. He use to get batches of drivers engine mount brackets machined up for the conversion.

Thanks for the info, Now a decision has to be made, as I have a bent a rear chassis rail on my high powered sw20 so I have a full engine package to transfer to a aw11 maybe!

If you are going to put a powerful 3sgte in the AW11 then you'll need to factory in more modifications (and money) Here are some things that come to mind.

If you are running a large turbo then it might hit the firewall. A standard turbo barely clears.
You'll need to reinforce the front and rear torque mount areas on the body so the metal doesn't rip out.
You need either custom hubs to take an SW20 turbo outer joint or purchase strong driveshaft sets to suit a MK1.5 from the US.
You'll need to run the E153 (which you already have) which means doing all four engine mounts. (S54 requires a single mount from memory on the timing belt side)
Can't get as much tyre under the rear of the AW11 like you can in the SW20. I think the max is 245 which comes in a 16in size minimum.

Will be an expensive process but fun if you finish it. Would be cheaper to buy another SW20 :)

Thanks again for the info. Was thinking about the idea of doing it. I reckon I will wreck this car and sell what I don't need, I do have another sw20 Hardtop with less HP, on the bright side I have a spare backup motor with 340rwkw in the shed. Or find cheap shell and do a heart transplant.
