  • SATURDAY NIGHT CRUISE (YES, CRUISE!) - SAT 18 MAY 2013

tralfaz
This coming Saturday Night marks the second Night Cruise for the Club. We've called this a "Cruise" instead of a "Run" because its more about show than go, but with the planning and two recons that have been done this doesn't mean that it won't be a huge lot of fun.
So, if you want to come along and enjoy the night lights of Surfer's Paradise, the photo ops, a nice meal and dessert by the ocean, then here are the details:

THE 2013 QUEENSLAND NIGHT CRUISE

Start Point: Meet at the famous Yatala Pie Shop, 48 Old Pacific Highway Yatala (off Exit 38 on the M1 going south), at 6.00PM for dinner. We have a seating area that will be reserved just for us, but rug up because it is getting a bit chilly. Check the Yatala Pie Shop website for their pies and order ahead if you can to save time. The pies are huge (personal experience), excellent quality, and very cheap for what you get.
Departure: Leave the Pie Shop at 7.00PM, so if you want to eat before you arrive and not have a pie then please be at the Start Point by 6.45PM for the driver's briefing.
Route: Detailed in the Run Sheet, which will be sent out by PM to those on the Roll Call. If you are coming you can expect some really good roads and great views. After recent feedback the Run Sheet will be sent out in both PDF and Word .doc format to make it easier to open for those without Adobe Reader.
Finish Point: As per the Run Sheet, but it will be by the ocean (night swim anyone). Cakes and tea/coffee will be provided.
Return Time: If you live in Brisbane then expect to be back in the Brisbane metro area by about 10.30PM.
Competition: A competition will be held for the most outlandish tie, scarf or headwear worn on the night. 1st Prize is a piece of Toyota memorabilia that is very useful.
Important Note: This is a Cruise where having a co-driver who can help navigate would be better than not having anyone in the co-driver's seat. Experience and feedback from the first Night Cruise last year has been used to make this one simpler and better.

Some of us are also participating in a Downshift meet on Sunday to publicise the MR2 and the Club - please see Eric's post if you would like to come.

Grant,
they used to make Holdens in Tin Can Bay until the mosquitos carried off all the workers. I have spent many a night out on the firing range there while in the military and we didn't need targets, we just aimed at the mossies.

Currumbin Valley is not on the agenda as this is more of a cruising pose night through the glass canyons of Surfers Paradise with roofs off, LED's blazing, doof-doof music going, and generally looking cool.

Sorry you can't make it, in fact there will not be one Spyder on this Cruise, so the rumour has started that Spyders are afraid to go out at night.

See you at the All Japanese Day, if not before.

Walter

Hey Ddubtoille, the PM's say your Inbox is full so you can't receive the Cruise Sheets. Can you clear some of the cobwebs out ASAP so the info can be delivered. Many thanks.
