1990 SW20 MR2 Turbo w/Targa Roof (5SPD, White) -

This car has been my weekend fun for about 4 years, but I’m regrettably selling it to add to a house deposit. Mechanically this car is extremely solid and reliable – I purchased it just after the previous owner had the engine completely rebuilt (MR2 specialist IDB Automotive). Since then I’ve replaced and upgraded numerous components. The chassis has done ~315k, but all of the running gear is pretty much new.

It’s mildly tuned on 10/14psi, but has the potential to make a lot more power. All of the supporting mods have a high ceiling, and with a proper ECU you’ll probably find the limits of the current turbo.

It’s great fun to drive, pretty decent on petrol, and doesn’t draw much attention from the police. (If they looked hard enough there’s sure to be something, but all of the major stuff is completely roadworthy – passed a Regency Inspection when I bought it)

Engine:
GenII 3S-GTE - Complete Engine Rebuild less than 10,000km ago (over $7k in receipts from IDB)
GenIII CT20B Turbo – good condition, no shaft play
Dual stage boost controller (Boost Tee + Solenoid, in-cabin switch)
KO Racing 3” Downpipe – Ceramic Coated w/support bracket
Custom B-pipe with 4” High-Flow Catalytic Converter
Fujitsubo Legalis R Muffler (silent at idle, but decent sound at revs)

Shortcomings:
No spare wheel/tyre – never had one
Body and interior is in fair condition. No significant issues or damage, but up close it does show it’s age.
No cold start injector – was not compatible with the fuel rail upgrade. Usually takes a couple of seconds longer to start in colder weather, but always does.
Current alarm system is problematic, so is disabled. Will throw in a replacement that I never got around to installing.

Will come with 3 months Rego.
Asking price is negotiable, but I’m not in any rush to get rid of it. Would appreciate it going to a proper enthusiast, who will pick up where I left off.
