It's high flowed, was all set for 205-10 at 16 psi, and the w2a was working well. The compressor surge was frustrating, and now the oil leak is too much to ignore. Just hoping Paul can patch me up for the event then I can think about something better for the future

Yes we both need a turbo upgrade!

Yes, you both could use a turbo upgrade. No need to silly, just sensibly sized.

Bud, those numbers are about in line with a CT20B & near expectations of a K1/PE1919T. Although, I'd push them less given your preference is for track (richer AFR's & less ignition advance). I'd use a general rule of thumb, that a track tune should yield about 5-10% less peak power than a "street tune", given the frequency/length of WOT time.

Agreed. I can run more boost though I just get higher intake temps and no more power. We have both reached the limit of the turbo. I've built a strong engine and should be able to get good power with a turbo upgrade and still keep reliability. Mr plow should be in the same boat. The 5sgte does it a lot easier than the 2l. I make the same power with the 5sgte as I did with the 3sgte with 5psi more.

Sounds like the car will be drive able for MTC, not sure on all the gory details but sounds like Paul and Jeff have got things sorted. Will look forward to some tips on the eventual turbo upgrade soon

With a BOV change back to stock, an oil and filter change, and a bit less boost, my smoke issues were mostly eliminated for the MTC. Compressor surge was still there in the midrange at times, but still had a blast. Will be thinking turbo options- any suggestions on a suitable turbo for track usage in the 200-250 rwkw range?

Stuka was saying that a GT30/71 would do the trick and have great response. I'm considering this for my turbo upgrade.
It's not all about dyno numbers. Sure you do want power though you also want it to be there when you need it.
I only have 200kW in my car.

Garret are soon to release a gtx2967 and 71 which uses a slightly smaller rear end than the gt30XX but a fair bit bigger than the GT28. It's the same as the current gt3071WG.

Jason's tas mr2 has the 3071wg and seems to be pretty responsive, in theory the 2971 should be more responsive than this as it's a billet compressor wheel.

Can't find anything on the GTX29 series. Could use some comments on this new thread: turbo upgrade ideas?
