MR PLOW
Hi folks,
I'm the proud new owner of a 1993 SW20 GT hardtop, and so far very much loving it!
After being talked into a track day at Wakefield in my usual car (stock 2010 WRX, considered by my wife as my first mid-life crisis) it seemed "sensible" to buy a toy, and the advice was go for something light, powerful, with good braking and handling. Good looking would be a bonus, all of which spells MR2 right?

Will try and upload a pic to show the result (now considered my second mid-life crisis!)
She will need a fair bit of TLC, I think I've got quite a journey on my hands. From what I can tell (and I'm not hugely mechanical), most of the car is stock, except intercooler, filter, boost controller & guage, nice stereo and wheels, and the exhaust (custom job using a commodore exhaust, twin exhaust look but one is fake?). But for 7,500 I'm not complaining.
Bonuses included the owners manuals (original Japanese + english) and a copy of Terry Heick's "Toyota MR2 Performance". Interior is in great nick, body seems rust free, exterior plastics a bit beat up though.

Will be off to the mechanic on Tuesday to see if there are any nasty surprises, and start planning some enhancements!

Welcome, looks a nice ride you got there.  Some extra photo's would be great.  What make you say its a '93'?  from the picture looks to be a pre 1993.  Great price you paid also - well done.

Welcome MR PLOW. Unusual name for a WRX driver. . . LOL
Whack on some coilovers and a front upgraded swaybar and you'll wanna be at the track every weekend in it, they're so much fun :)

Saw that one on carsalesc and looked great.

Absolutely love the SMG [steel mist grey] hard tops (I too have one)

Carmikey: my car is also a 93 and also has the same styling

Thanks Carmikey, I'm just going off the import plate, rego papers etc. Maybe early '93? Any other clues to verify would help, other than translating the japanese manual!
I'm struggling to work out how to add images too - any tips for a new user?

Yeah, an old uni nickname, part Simpsons reference and part be-there joke.
Tentative Wakefield trip on 21 August, can't wait!

Easiest way is to click on "open full version" (ie. not quick reply) then click on the 'paperclip' button to attach files.

Regarding model clues - body side molding I thought was colour coded to car 93+.  Can also use this as a reference.  Can use this as a guide.

Thanks Carmikey,
Going off that guide, square brake lights, black side line, 3 piece spoiler - sounds like an early '93 "Revision II", not a late '93 "Revision III". Wouldn't want it to be clear cut would we
Anyhow, all good by me!
