^I know exactly what you mean, speaking from an old car owner's point of view. There's just something from a new car that's special (it never breaks down lolol) and vice versa for old cars.

On the other hand, I think old cars have character and a unique temperament, which I don't find in new cars as they're often a bit sterile. 

the amount of new cars ive seen with hazard lightsa nd bonnet up on on the side of the roads in the last 5 years is proof that they also break down no matter how new. this includes almost all the car manufacturers but mostly ford and holden. in saying that, its just some cars and bad luck most new cars go for a while before something happens.

btw i cant remeber wether i posted this or not
but assuming the ECU is from subaru, would that mean its only a matter of a flash of the ecu to make some more power. rather than going aftermarket. bearing in mind its only an N/A but still.

The WRX harness/ECU is the same as the STI for the most part, so you are out of luck. We have already attempted to connect the ECU to pull the ROM file using Ecutek (Subaru ECU reflash) but have not had luck as of yet. We have looked into this ECU and inspected it pretty heavily so far.” Knose follows up by saying, The real question is will anyone make a relish option for this vehicle?” The biggest challenge—knowing this vehicle is not factory turbocharged—becomes a big obstacle for ECU reflash engineers when developing a custom setup that is based on the naturally aspirated computer. With any luck, Knose hopes to get his hands on an ECU to analyze its interworkings a bit further so he can send that info off to Ecutek. “We need to see if we can access the ECU or if it is a completely locked down Toyota ECU, even though it’s stamped Subaru,” he says.

Yes on an NA that is relatively good, but compared to turbos it's laughable

Its not all about power certainly not when considering the 86.
 
However DD a Honda Euro with 147 Kws is damn so slow compared to the MR2.
 
Sell my MR2 for the 86 ? NEVER, NEVER. Just impossible to go back now.
 
Next company car in a year and a half ,  86 ? YES By that time all the bugs will be sorted out as with any new model and most likely would have had the next revision
