Just a little concerning when the only tools visible are a medium size shifter, and some dodgy screwchiseldrivers. You're a brave man, Aaron!

First photo shows my JBS socket set, JBS ratchet spanners and behind them out of view is my JBS ring spanners [:p] The big shifter is actually used as a Knockometer unless I need something bigger which I use the 3kg Beater.

That's not too horrible, my 4AGE screams along at ~3500rpm @ 100km/h and the noise/viabration doesn't worry me. V6 running around those speeds might suck fuel economy, but I'll be cutting back on the amount of street driving once it's all converted [}:)]

howd you remove nthe gears without pullers? I've damaged more then one gear by not using the correct tools for the job. Fifth gear both times, using a 2 jaw puller instead of a toyota SST.

Ended up finding that a bearing puller (know the two sort of jaw things you bolt together) works a treat. One of my legs on the 2 jaw puller would also come off the lip and generally cause damage :'(

I actually just gently levered it from both sides with a pair of screwdrivers and it came off rather easily.

And with my newly purchased circlip pliers, it means I could have another session of gearbox dismemberment!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah thats about as much as the place im getting mine done quoted. But i guess they have more experience and the right tools to do so quicker.

Id like to see how the OBX diff compares to the QUAIFE. Seing as ours will be going in at the same time?

I hear the OBX ones are still pretty good.

There is a comparison of OBX & Quaife on theHybridz Forums (Different model of LSD). The quaife units have a better machine finish and tolerances are a bit better. Some minor mechanical differences between them too.

Do you think you could dis-assemble your quaife when you get it so we can have a comparison of the OBX & Quaife with regards to the S54 model of diff.

I'm not too keen to pull it apart but I will take pictures of it from the outside when it comes in.
It's not a matter of laziness, I just don't trust myself enough.
