Knowing the way you drive it will be more like 50 HP.  Cant wait to see this.  I want a ride.

It's the daily, so I can't beat on it tooooo hard.
Running an S54 non-lsd also limits the fun, not keen on exploding the gearbox.

OK.  Fair enough.  It sounded sooooo nice in the video.  I still want a ride.

I've done some other random things lately that is probably worth posting in here. Too much to details, so I'm just going to throw up a wall of photos instead.

Took the black thing to the MR2 Challenge, went ok for a relatively stock package.
Brakes, tires and lack of LSD were pretty ****astic, but I had fun.
I even lent it to Tree and Adrian for a couple of runs.

Thanks to Rick/Emma for this video of my shootout lap which was my fastest for the event, a 1:15.7

After a rainy day in Sydney, I finally cracked it with the car not having an LSD and tracked down a whole gearbox with factory helical LSD for $500. Big thanks to Highlander for the use of his facilities and hospitality.

During the gearbox swap, the worn engine mount I knew it had was reclassified as ****ed.

The rear "kirkosaurus" urethane insert was not fairing too well either.

Out with the old, in with the new.

I also decided it was time to resolve some of the clunks and bangs in the front end.

I ordered a new 5th gear set with 0.73 ratio around the same time I bought the LSD gearbox, however they did not arrive in time for them to be installed before the gearbox went into the car. These gears should drop the cruising RPM from 3200rpm @ 100kmh to 2800rpm.

And lastly, with the whole 16" wheels being a PITA to source good tires for, I picked up some very cheap Evo7 17x8" rims to upgrade to when the current tires are shredded. Plan is to fit Federal 595RS-RR 215/40R17 front and 235/40R17 rear to the rims.

Enough on the black boat, the Slushdub has had some slow, but good progress. I now have a replacement head to fit onto the motor which will be done after the dummy mock up work is done. My recent purchase of a TIG welder has been already paid for itself with the progress in making some of the new outlet and intercooling pipe work for the twinscrew supercharger.

The welds are not pretty, but they are good enough for the purpose.

With SW21MZ running an LSD, I was pretty keen for the Toyota Nationals event, however had to pull out at the last minute. So with the announcement of MCM Nationals and some drag racing, I quickly paid for my entry and off we went to do some skids. Jaemus recently took his 3VZ SW20 to the drags, so I had my goal (To beat his 15.1) and expectation set (it should run 15's, maybe a high 14). Then this happened....

14.344 @ 156.83kmh was the best run.

Things I learnt from the event:
- The 1MZ loves limiter
- A stock 1MZ skids second gear happily
- The 1MZ pulls fine to 6500rpm (short shifting at 6000rpm was slower)
- The engine mounts are dead
- Dash cams make recording drag videos a breeze

So now the plans are to fix the mounts, fit new tires and organize some launch control goodness for a harder launch. The new goal is to run a 13.7 pass.

Where did you get the fifth gear set? How hard is it to swap? I'd like to be able to cruise at 110 below 3000rpm...

I bought the parts from Amayama, it was ~$250 shipped for the parts. Part#'s 3336-33020 and 33428-32040. If you have all the right tools, swapping them isn't too hard, it just requires some patience. The Toyota Service Manual has all the relevant information.
This is really only a mod suited to a V6 swap since they have bucket loads of torque compared to the 3SGE.

Paul Wood pioneered this quite a few years ago and I'm just following his work for this.
