Do you know about this one? http://mr2.org.nz/phpbb3/...ic.php?f=12&t=8755

That is cool! However, if I was going to that extreme length, I'd just build a space frame version of the AW11 and put a bunch of AW11 fibre panels on it :) Saves having to massacre an AW11 and put up with the inherit faults.

Someday I should do up a post in this thread about my AW11R idea ;)

Well since Amayama is too fkn slow (or doesn't want my business) to send me a quote after 10days, I've hit up my local dealership instead.

It's $185 worth of parts and probably double what Amayama would charge, but at least they got back to me within 24hrs... So those have now been ordered and it's time to see what the truth about the valve train swaps is.

Ah, nothing like fixing some dodgy work done by previous people. Finally got into pulling the 20V loom out today after a really lazy easter... I found a bunch of cut wires just floating in the loom and a bunch of melted grounds and power wires. I've started pulling extra unused circuits out of the loom and removed a couple of connectors I no longer use (AFM, O2 etc etc).

Some melted and corroded ground wires.

Random wires that had just been cut and left floating in the loom

The stripped down loom

A bunch of wires that I'll remove from the loom shortly, once I double check they are not important.

A pile of rubbish I have already removed from the loom.

Spotted this at the traffic lights on the way home, where I have passed another one going in the opposite direction about 20mins before this one...

Was hoping they were delivering it to my drive way, but alas, they kept driving past

That's like about a month ago when the missus spotted an original MK1 Elise in Black, in front of a black BRZ stopped at the lights, HAS to take a pic and MMS it to me to rub it in. I was like "nooo they're up the completely wrong end of town".

Good to see I wasn't the only one working on an adub over easter :)

Before my change to the M62 supercharger, I was researching the possibility of a smaller pulley setup for the SC14. Today, a 110mm replacement clutch and pulley I had ordered has arrived.

This would work with a stock sized crank pulley, would allow the water pump to run at near stock speeds, would use the stock tensioner and still produce boost equivalent to running a 165mm crank pulley.

I was going to machine off the multi-rib pulley and fit a HTD8M tooth pulley for a gilmer drive setup to avoid any potential belt slip from having less belt area on the smaller pulley. I might still fit this up to my spare SC12 and give it a go before the M62 go onto the car.

I have to "unrant" about Amayama now... The afternoon I placed my order with my local Toyota dealer (~$187.90) I received the quote back from Amayama of $93.34 shipped.... So I quickly called Toyota and canned my order and proceeded with Amayama. After that the service was good and the parts arrived within 10 business days, so once I find the golden path for the 1MZ valve train, I'll probably place the full parts order through them for it.

Today all the valve train parts arrived.

So potentially on Sunday, I will be able to find out what actually works with a 1MZFE in terms of buckets, springs and shims.

Initial findings.

Valve Springs
3SGTE = 43.30mm L, 27.00mm OD, 20.00mm ID, 35 gram, 23.00mm bind*
1MZFE = 45.60mm L, 24.10mm OD, 17.90mm ID, 28 gram, 22.90mm bind*
* Bind being when I cannot slide a sheet of paper between the middle most coils when the valve spring is compressed in a vice.

Buckets
1MZFE = 25.55mm L, 31.00mm OD, 28.95mm ID, 46 gram
3SGTE = 25.30mm L, 31.00mm OD, 28.95mm ID, 37 gram
1ZZFE = 25.25mm L, 31.00mm OD, 29.30mm ID, 29 gram

Well they all match in sizes within useable tolerances and it looks like they are indeed interchangeable. Will find out more when I actually try to fit them into the 1MZFE.
