Hi all,
My MR2 is about due for registration again and I thought I'd ask you all a question I've had for a few years now. The car is registered as 1999 model as that's when it was imported/complied, however the build number indicates that it is a 1990 model.
So my question for you is, is it possible to have it re-registered under its original build date in NSW?
I'd like to put it on historic registration as I don't daily drive it and it seems a bit pointless paying for full registration on its limited use.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the HVS:
  • your vehicle must be at least 30 years of age or older from the year it was manufactured. The vehicle must not be modified.
I had heard from a friend there was talk about modified vehicles being allowed in the near future.

I'm fairly sure there is a "Modified Historic" as well.

NSW MR2 club is not part of the scheme, but several of our members are part of Toymods who are part of the scheme.

Mine was also complied in 99, but used the frame number I entered in Toyodiy to find that mine was built 12/92.
When I bought it from Queensland I registered it immediately on the Club Permit scheme in Vic and had no issues doing so. Added bonus no Duty needs to be paid by immediately getting it onto club plates.

So, Nationals was soooo close to you.  Why didn't we see you?
