Hi guys, opened my water tank for my W2A and the water was smelly and somewhat stale looking, (no problems with car was just being curious) is this a simple as drain and replace? And is it just standard water or are they normally filled with a special cooling liquid?
Dumb question but...the more you know!

Thanks
Matt

I have run demineralised water with water wetter and also a weak 25% toyota coolant mix before. I found the demin with water wetter still seemed to start corroding so now use the coolant water mix.

Replacing is not difficult with bleeding the only real concern in my case but as these systems are custom you my have your own intricacies.

I am however curious what you mean by stale looking?

Hey mate thanks for the info

Il look at using the weak coolant mix. I assume just the toyota red? Im not to sure on the drain and bleed process yet as i havnt looked that far into neither did i actually install it haha

Il try take a picture of the cap and inside
Its a bit hard to see,but it looks like corrosion maybe on the inside of the cap?
Its like a fine salt haha

Also where are these systems normally drained from?

Thanks
Matt

I used to have a PWR barrel cooler like that one. Yep I use toyota red so the car only has the one coolant type.

Is your heat exchanger front mounted? If so you'll need to bleed from both ends similar to the engine cooling system. I usually run my pump to move any air pockets along. My pump is my low point and where I would drain it from.

Yep its front mounted infront of the radiator only a small thing. So drain it from the front .cool and have the pump running check.

Il give it a shot

Thanks
Matt
