It's been too long since we've seen this beast on the track. I hope you get it all sorted soon.

I know, its very draining but I will get there. If the trades were compitent, it would be up and running 12 months ago. This seems to be too much to ask for.. I may just fit the standard intake then tune it .At least it will be on the track turning laps.

See if you can track down Craig Stallard to make a manifold for you. He made some awesome custom extractors many years ago for my Escort race car. They were expensive though it was worth it. I'm happy to pay extra for the job to be done perfectly. I think Brell knows Craig.

Thanks mate, will follow it up.

Sorry to hear about that, if I may ask what happened with the manifold? I have heard good things about CPC so it's interesting to hear about the negative sides too. Also why is the exhaust out of spec so to speak?

Am extremely interested to see what you do with the suspension. Too many track MR2's leave it untouched apart from tuned coilovers (if you're lucky). It's an area that's a bit lacking and has room for improvement, especially with the more modern understanding of suspension and newfound ease of simulation.

Have been tossing up for a long time to get one of Alex W/Wilhelm Racing's suspension geometry kit. He did a heap of simulation and measurement work but without being able to experience it in person it's hard to tell - seems wasted on a car that's mainly a weekend warrior (for me) rather than an out and out track car.

Glad to see you're getting somewhere with this car and all of the issues with poor vendors, albeit slowly. Overall 2016 may be a year to forget for the car but you're well on the right track to having it running soon(ish).

Thanks Nick,
The design was wrong, the throttle body shaft will never work safely, it does not and will not seal correctly, the linkage system doesn't work, is not adjustable, effects idle, he has wasted 12 months failing at every point and now he will not come to the party. He should stuck to accounting and leave this kind of work to engineers and tradesmen.
As for the exhaust, I provided a spec which was not followed as requested. The welding is impeccable but they don't know what a merge collector is or how important it is for a NA engine. So this was not as per spec. The secondary pipe was also not as per spec and I could not get the importance through to them. It's very hard to find the right ones but simple to find passionate cowboys.
Never use sure flow exhaust. Absolute idiots.

Hello Ant,
This car has a few mods. It has a similar set up to the Wilhelm racing kit. I tried a few things to improve bump steer which helped. The most influential mods where tightening up the rear of the car. Braces, etc. As I have adjustable points in every corner of the car, it does help with set up. Also has rose joints in every point which makes it more crisp and direct.
I dialed out almost all of the bump steer on the rear which was really nice. Driving in the rain is pretty easy now.
After driving the other car with a set up that Ken and Kazumasa set up, its gives some great options for the future of the car.
Hopefully chassis sim will have the spec through in the next month so I can improve on the rear end of the car. Unless you go multi link or double A link, you will always suffer with turning arc from the offset required to run wide tyres with coilovers. Also it creates too much scrub which makes for heavy steering.
I would recommend the WR geometry kit but finding someone to set it up correctly is very difficult. Just learn the tricks then do it yourself. Tooling is not very expensive.

Yes I agree 2016 has been a bad year. Infact it has been in every degree regarding the car and MTC. Hopefully it will turn around in 2017.

Cheers

Aside from dealing with other peoples rubbish workmanship, no real updates on the race car. Just loading up some photo's for Mikes conversion.

So I have been moving in the right direction with the car. I have again found the motivation to get back in there and do what I want done before its back on the circuit chasing Admin's lap times.
As I will be reworking the undertray and fitting the difusser the muffler has now been relocated to the boot.
The accusump has now been relocated to the cabin for better weight distribution and access to the operation lever.
The Trans cooler is also relocated to the passengers side intake as the cold air will be routed through the NACA ducts on the rear quarters.
The wiring is pretty much sorted but still needs another night or two to finalise.
The intake manifold is going through it five revision but its almost right! Such a PITA
I have some T tops in fibreglass on their way from USA as I am sick of looking at the lexan.
There is still a few more weeks before the intake is returned so a few more weeks to finalise all these other issues before it goes to the tuner.
