just gut the engine lid. since its a track car cut out the slots abit too.

I was looking at that option as I have done it before.

I did all that with the Celica. A little about the Celica ST162 It had a fresh engine with 145psi without the turbo set up. The engine had about 110kw.
Chassis Seam welded, eurethene bushes throughout, every scrap of steel removed which isn't used, lightened the bonnet, doors, light weight race seat, 5 point harness, light weight rims, GT4 brakes, dbr slotted discs, braided lines, dot 5 fluid, new bearings , semi's 205/50/15.
I keep note of all weight removal and came up with 220kg so I guess it was around the 850kg mark, with a total cost of the project at $5500. Cheap and it rendered results on it one and only outing before selling it to a Kiwi an hour out of Melbourne.

I beat a CV8, Audi TT, Renault Megane, S14 and more. I was 21 out of 42 with a 1.15 at Wakefield Park. Its on Natsoft.

What time are you hoping to run around philip island? I'm there for a track day in early January in my FD, should be under 2minute laps on semi slicks

I have no idea what time I will be running. I plan to just make it there and run for the day and make it in one piece! I expect under 2mins once I get my head around the track and the car. If the car is set up correctly it will do it.

Yes it was a bugger to sell. I basically gave it away but I will get to drive it again and go door to door with it on the track as the the new owner is a champ of bloke!
I didnt hit 8000rpm as it needed a bigger fuel pump or the likes. It was certainly built to handle a beating which I duely gave it at the track. If I had spent a few grand on a turbo it would have been a lot quicker.
