G'day all,

Bit of a noob question, but I have a 1989 AW11 (4AGE engine), and will need to change the alternator soon. Are the alternators for 1980s Corollas with 4AGEs the same for AW11s? I realise we're talking about the same engine (at least I assume so!!!), but I just wanna make sure they don't have different mounts or something that will mean it won't fit.

Cheers!

Did a comparison of them on the above site, and they have different part numbers for the alternator itself. I think they changed the amperage at one stage, that may be the reason.
That said, the covers have the exact same part numbers. So it should bolt up perfectly.

Cheers for that, I was looking at one that only does 50A, whereas Mister 2 wants 60 or 70, if I'm reading that right.

The standard AW11 alternator has an on-board voltage reg, so be carefull swaping items. Suggest you check with an auto-elect first.

Aye, decided I'll get auto-electrician to do basic electrical maintenance, including changing the brushes in particular
