Yeah, I can relate to that. Whats required to make it run though, not complete the project. Surely the mechanicals are pretty much there?

to actually start it it's purely a ecu/harness/igniton thing.

for it to run to tune it needs intercooler stuff.

however i want to buy the ecu last so i get the benefit of "current" technology. if i had have bought it ages ago i would have had a dos based m48...

Sounds good! Best of luck this time. Props for hanging in there! Jus don't follow the trend & sell it after you build it. E85 FTW! When you getting the turbo?

My friend has a Borg Warner Turbo on his Mazda, its pretty awesome

care to update us on your plans James? you have been pretty quiet on this thread but you have been hinting at stuff in other threads!

Well, unless I get the poo poos with it it'll be something like the below:

A new motor:
Head -
Kelford 272 gen 3 cams (high lift)
Custom Ferrea valves, 2.5mm OS inlet, 1.5 or 2mm OS exhaust (not decided yet) fitting these valves requires larger valve seats fitted
HKS valve springs
Shimless bucket setup again
HKS adjustable gears
Port and polish done by yours truely (I'll leave the bowl & short turn radius to the head shop though)
Cometic MLS gasket (will be sized so that I can try and get ~9-9.5:1 compression ratio - I will be using E85)

Bottom end:
5SFE block (88mm bore)
Custom pistons 1.025" compression height
144mm long rods (Might end up 144.5, depends, exploring crank options, need to have a look at a 2S crank, if I use 5s and turn the big ends, it'll be 144)
Unsure who'll be doing the rods yet, either Pauter or Carillo. Carillos are a little lighter. Either set I go with will be EDM drilled for forced pin oiling.
Block girdle will be going back on, but with some improvements, I don't think it was engineered as well as it could have been.

Intake and intercooler: As before

Turbo:
Still thinking about this one, going to do a divided manifold setup, turbos I am looking at are GT4088R, Borg warner 91-79, Precision Billet 6262 and forced performance HTA GT3586R. Goal is 700whp. I am pretty determined to go divided T4. The housing offerings for the HTA turbo are fairly slim, with a 1.00 housing being the largest AR, probably not big enough for the large compressor in that turbo. The GT4088R will work well in divided manifold, may be a stretch to get 700horse, need to do a bit of research. Borg warner, not convinced on the spooling ability, most people say they are good, but I saw Geoff @ full races dyno of this turbo on his 2.6L RB26 in divided T4 setup, I think it was peak boost about 5K, and hes got more capacity so I can onlky assume mine would be worse. I would like to see peak boost by 5k on whatever setup I go. Precision Billet 6262, I am not a huge fan of their new 'air cooled' ball bearing CHRA they do, so steers me away.
Anyone that is familiar with the GT35R will also know the CHRA is very narrow, fitment with a T4 housing for all your water and oil lines in a beech. So thats steers me away from the HTA turbo as well. If it had better housing selection it'd probably be my choice.

Anyway, already got two tial MVS wastegates to use with the setup, just need to choose a turbo and fab the manifold and downpipe.

Fueling:
ID2000 injectors, Weldon 2025A pump, weldon FPR with -8 return.

Most the other stuff will be the same, will be improving alot of stuff though. Also got some bits and pieces I've had laying around for ages that need fitting. AIM MXL Pista dash amongst other things.

We will see how it goes.

Think you'll be best off looking at a QSV
requiring a single exit T4 manifold and twin scroll turbo.

PT models anyway

lucky you don't want 630-690hp,every 10hp there's a different turbo! lol.[88]

Could be a typo in there too
or else I want to see this 850hp comp wheel that has a 99.9% trim.

You think the QSV will work better then a straight twin scroll setup? They are a fairly exxy bit of kit from memory :P The supra boys seem to love them though.

yes, they are about triple the price they should be. [:(!]
No doubt there'll be a chinese copy available in a couple of years for about $50 too.

They need a T3 version for the 1.06AR GT35R
be great for 2-2.5 litre motors.

As T4 gear tends to be Supras and V8s
it requires a bit of searching just to find the miriad of forums
let alone relatable,unbiased,quality info.

of course rotors are their own game for turbo sizing.

Just a quick note, keep you eye on www.ausrotary.com

There are people who sell similar sized turbo very new.
