The weight of the turbo is keeping it from falling over.

Here is a little side project - ANOTHER engine!

Went and pulled my 5sfe block out of my mates caustic tank today. The factory coating on the block is pretty damn tanky! Has withstood a few weeks in a caustic tank. Looks like a powdercoat type substance which is applied before they do any final machining of the block (bosses, front face, rear face, top face bottom face etc). I'll probably mask everything up and have it powder coated myself. Which means may or may not have to find a way to remove the rest of the factory coating.

Block is a 98+ block from a camry.

Got some slugs to go into it. Custom CP's w/ ceramic coated dome and skirts. Still waiting on my custom rods [xx(]

Looking at turbo options for ~700whp. Currently looking at borg warner turbos as they seem to have a more comprehensive list of compressor sizes. I am looking for something that will produce more power then a 4088R but don't really want to run a GT42R frame turbo, due to the sheer physical size (they are freakin massive). Apparently flow wise the 66mm borg warner turbo is up there with the gt4294r.

They are all journal bearing turbos, but apparently still spool quite well. A bonus is they are cheap to rebuild (And I know just the man for the job). I threw away $1500 in a ball bearing turbo after 2000km of use not long ago.

Will start to acquire materials to fab myself a manifold in the near future.

so whats the plan now?

sell the old mcs engine and fit this or is this for another ride?

Will be keeping both engines.

Considering 3sgte'ing a AW10 shell I have. If that goes ahead, it will be a dedicated race car. Tube frame rear end (behind passenger compartment), lexan windows throughout. Will not be a streeter. The AW10 were superlight, so even with a GT35R sized turbo would go like stink. Which motor ends up in which car, I don't know at this point. Always good to have spares anyway, if you are pushing the boundaries you are bound to break something some time or another.

The head on this second motor I will make a little more on the wild side. I will make an attempt at fitting 2mm OS valves. Dare say it'll require custom seat work. Also fit a highlift cam, machining the spare gen2 head I got here to allow fitment.

I don't expect it to come together terribly quickly. A bit of a side project. Bottom end should be sorted within a couple of months. The second head could be a bit further off.

AW10?

If it was a track car I'd be a tad worried about horrific turbo lag, I don't see any turbo that you would put on being considered "fast spooling". It'd make a bloody insane drag car though, or any other kind of car that didn't require you to ever slow down :D.

You seem to be doing what I plan on doing down the track, except you have done it a poo pooeload more insane. Now my 3s build has come together im looking at a longer term more crazy 3s build. Certainly not in the 700hp you are looking at though. Thats at the stage where I start to fall out of my chair and black out.

New project does look interesting and I definately envy that hoist in the garage! Goodluck with it.

GT35R isn't laggy.

There is more then sufficient powerband available. ~550whp in a car that weighs <800kg (who knows how light by the time I finish hacking it up) is a huge power to weight ratio. Powerband from ~4500-5000rpm --> 9000rpm is more then plenty.

do you mean aw11?

sounds good anyway. i think alot of ppl are engine fiends atm.

i got another complete gen3 and yet another low kay non overheated gen3 head.

have a gen3 worth of engine bits from my orginal engine here too,

make sure you post pics of your head work.

Some of us grew up in NA's and get sleepy when the CT26 is trickling along from slow turns or stops!

I just want to differentiate between headjobs and headwork here. We only want to see the later.

No, I mean AW10. The no frills, carby engined AW11.
