While I'm back that way there is the Hose from Hell on Earth, which is a bent heater hose, all the gaskets and the oil filter.

+1 for doing it yourself great way to learn about your car and simultaneously give yourself multiple lacerations. It's a question of removing the dump and oil cooler and any other things in the way e.g. dipstick or even thermostat housing if its a real squeeze.

USE THE TOYOTA OEM HOSE it comes with heat shielding and clips that are super easy to put on. You could use ordinary hose with heat shielding around it but its far easier to just do it with the proper tool. Sucks that its a 3 week wait, I had to wait that long for a gasket. Replace all the hoses you can really its a great idea with the age of these cars and all. I didn't do the HFHOE because it was hard enough getting the clamp undone for it. But if you got more than 5 hours to spare its a great investment.

Sounds like nearly as much fun as doing an Alfasud handbrake cable!

Update: took everything apart, replaced the hose from hell and the hose from hell on earth then to find a leak in my thermostat. Fixed that but still getting a few drips coming from the area, might just be left over liquid but anything else behind there that could be leaking?

Well I had a leak from where my water pump was mounted to the block but thats because it was rooted lol. Perhaps double check the hose clamps? Particularly those attached to the oil cooler.

Where was your leak appearing? I had it this morning steaming near the intercooler? Thinking this could be a similar issue?

Yep so mine was near the oil cooler and couldn't really see where it was coming from because of everything in the way. Pray to all thats holy it's not broken because it can do some serious damage and isn't cheap to replace. Worth mentioning mine was leaking with the engine off also, it literally couldn't hold 1L of coolant. I'd take off the timing belt cover to make sure things all look healthy

Well that doesn't fill me with confidence haha. Mines the same. I pour it in, it comes out haha. It keeps everything from the radiator but just not the block area. Will replace the thermo on Sunday and have a good luck around. Hopefully just a **** clamp... I'm praying
