Good luck, would love to see a MR2 in WTAC again.

Being a targa you are likely over 1200kg not 1174 for a n/a hardtop. I think you will struggle to get to the weight goal you have BUT that really is not an issue since you will still be lighter than most.

If you plan on open class (V6 will push you out of Clubsprint obviously) up your wheel and tyre sizes and you may want to look up available Advan tyre sizes being thats what you will be running. The body mods you mention will fall under the rules of that class, but there are limitations on the sizes.

Have a read here and keep up to date with changes (they do happen quite often) http://www.worldtimeattac...itors/wtac-2015-rules/

Way ahead of you on that karmeleon. 235/255 staggered. 17 inch rims rears as 17x9 (+10 offset) front yet to work out but a much easier to work with size. Weights are based of lightest model in the range, I'm under the impression that t top and h top are both classed as gen "x" SW20s and the same with NA vs Turbo. Weight is measured of lightest option for that model of car, lightest evo, not lightest lancer Etc.

I remember reading somewhere that you have to have the stock suspension pick up points. They just have to be be there. Doesn't mean you have to use them, so you can weld in new points for A arms etc. Just have to leave the standard pick ups there.

MY interpretation is that that only applies to Clubsprint.

You may as well use the rules to your advantage and go much bigger with your tyre sizes. You can easily get a 265 in the back of a SW20 even in Clubsprint, so go further because you can and run the 295 you're allowed to on the rear and go even bigger on the front as well.

If you were trying to build a car for Clubsprint these sorts of things would not be on the table. But as you're going for Open class i would be taking everything to the extreme of the rules rather than "this will do"

You're correct with the weight factor, has been some time since i perused the rulebook.

A arm would be awesome but is sooooo much work and the gains although there would be better spent elsewhere (all the fastest MR2's in the world still use macpherson strut front and rear)

Goodluck with the build and keep posting updates.

Karmeleon, 255s are the highest on 17s advan offers, I'd have to tub to go to 18s.

No need for tubs on the rear for 265/18's on stock body.

There is for an 18 inch rim with some sort of profile. Also something that hasn't been mentioned is weight to footprint ratios, as the tyre footprint increases the pressure is dispersed over a large and larger distance, eventually leading to a detrimental handling effect, not to mention the turning issues associated with wider tyres

Try driving them before you dismiss them, theory is great... "in theory"
